mostly a joy
This is a jumble of candid, high-spirited adventures. It's mostly a joy to read, whether it's motorcycling across the Gobi Desert, boxing in the ring at a Beijing fight club, or just waiting till dawn in train stations. The writers note hard realities all around, but enjoying the ride is the main thing. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. This book has many fascinating stories in it. One of my favorites in it is by Arthur Zich, who chronicles his ride down the Yangtze river from Chongching to the not-yet-finished Three Gorges Dam. It makes u angry and amazed at the scale and brevity of that project. A nice book to read if you want to travel to China or if you want to learn more about it besides what you hear in the news. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
