    Trial by Fire is HOT!

Wow I can not wait to read more of this series. This is the first book.
Howard is a firemen/paramedic; gorgeous and has no problem with the ladies. He is everything a women would want in a man, but comes with a sorted past. He never allows himself to get to close or fall in love until he meets Katherine McKenna.
On a call to a routine fire he finds Katherine at a house that is on fire trying to put it out. She is injured and he comes to her rescue. "love at first site" for both of them. They start a relationship, but a string of murders happening around fires that are arson entangle them both into the trap of a serial killer.
The book is explosive with action, filled with romance.
I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read on about the other firemen of Station 5.

    Ssssssmokin'

I loved this book. It had intrigue, hot guy and girl action and addressed real issues. This is the first book I've read by this author but won't be the last if her writing style says the same. I can't wait to read the next in the series. I'm looking forward to more books by this author series or not!

    Trial by Fire

This book is for you if you are interested in Fire fighters! I have enjoyed mulitple romance novels with the main character being a fire fighter. This story I thought was mid-field compared to the others I have read. I enjoy a good story, and know that is what it is.
It gives you two types of stories to read in one, one romantic, and one about murders. It has characters that are not perfect, but still keep your interest in the story.
I will leave some for your imagination, and enjoy the story itself. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Happy reading!

    So many issues

Having read three books featuring fire-fighter heroes in such quick succession, Davis' book fell well short.
One major problem I had was that I figured out both what happened in Howard's childhood, and who the bad guy was, almost right off the bat. I wish Ms Davis had worked harder to surprise.
I'm all for tortured heroes, but there are only so many nightmares our hero can wake up from in one book, and only so many times he can wind up in hospital. For such a 'big hunky hero' he doesn't really even get to save the day - a major plotting mistake. And Kat and Howard spend the entire novel running scared. A hero has to take charge of the situation at some point (and I had serious issues with the break-up, when, after being so concerned for Kat's safety one minute, he simply drives her back home and leaves her alone the next).
And don't get me started on the cheating! I think, being naked and kissing not once, but twice - and in two different locations - in one night constitutes cheating. It was hard to love the hero after that!
I cannot stand it when an author feels the need to remind us about a curvy heroine's size in every scene, and that happens here. Kat's dialogue often comes off as rather childish, annoying when I suppose the author was going for cute.
And what's with the poor editing - one minute we're hearing about how Kat has chosen to be 'bare down there', and the next she isn't?!
Romance novels generally include sex, which is great. But often in this book I felt as if I was reading an erotica author's attempt to write a mainstream novel.Additionally, the pacing was really off. I really believe there's a much better novel hiding in there somewhere, and it's a pity more attention wasn't given to structure in the editing process.
If you're on the lookout for a fun romance based around a fire department, go for Bella Andre's far more satisfying Hot Shots series.

    Whew!!!!

Get out the firemens hose. This is a hot one. The foreplay of romance was off the charts. Great imagination. The story was great. And the tale tale bits, of all the characters was a great lead to a great series. Keep em comin.

    exhilarating romantic suspense thriller

House-sitting school teacher Kat McKenna is in shock when the home she watches is set on fire. Firefighter Lieutenant Howard ¿Six Pack¿ Paxton tries to calm down the distraught woman who literally falls into his arms. Soon afterward, a corpse is found inside.----------------------- Arson investigators and police conclude the fire was set to conceal a homicide. They also believe Kat inadvertently might have seen the killer. Howard is concerned that the culprit may come after Kat so he vows to keep her safe. However when a second fire and murder occurs, he reassesses his position as he new thinks the killer is targeting him in some deranged way but that frightens the normally fearless firefighter who fears the arsonist-killer may target the woman he loves.---------------- Not just the fires are hot in this exhilarating romantic suspense thriller as the relationship between the lead couple is pure heat. The cast makes the tale work as Howard has relationship issues going back to his childhood Kat is a courageous person while the villain, whom readers learn his motive from his musings, is obviously deranged and the rest of the key players are fully developed. Readers will appreciate Jo Davis¿ strong tale due to the powerful characterizations making TRIAL BY FIRE a terrific action-packed tale.------------ Harriet Klausner
