Winner of the Asian Pacific American Award for Literature
Janet S. Wong's book is the first to receive the children's Asian Pacific American Award for Literature. The award is given by the Asian and Pacific American Library Association part of the American Library Association. The beautifully illustrated story tells of a semi-autobiographical journey back to Korea. It is eye-opening and inspiring. Wong reveals the long trip home through the eyes of a young American child. The child tries to understand the rich cultural heritage she has inherited from her mother. Bo Jia uses a masterful combination of Western and Eastern style painting. The colors are rich and vibrant. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
