I have always been interested and inspired by the Kennedy family. I was so looking forward to this memoir that I started reading it the day it came out and am now finished. This autobiography is a splendid read. The family stories are truly fascinating, and he wasn't afraid to reveal his own tragic errors. This would be a great book for an adolescent, as it really shows how a young person can overcome problems and succeed. Ted Kennedy lived through so much tragedy and heartbreak. It is how he reacted and endured through these tough times that shows his true character. Those who disagreed with his political positions will likely trash this book. This book is not for them: it's for those who want to know a little bit more about the Kennedys, and a lot more about their youngest son. I'm already knee deep in another book that I recommend wholeheartedly--EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE 2.0--I'm learning so much from it!

Whitewash

This man spent a lifetime in pursuit of the most extreme liberal causes and did much to destroy our Republic. This book is a whitewash of this Radical, Socialist icon. Don't waste your money

    Easy Reading..

Born and raised in Massachusetts...Cape Cod and Politics was the Kennedy name. Ted Kennedy did many good things for the state, but he gave away a lot. I really liked him and was very sad when he died. I found reading this book, I became a little resentful. He had so much handed to him throughout his life and really had no idea what the average person wanted or needed. His programs, yes helped the poor but enabled the poor also. I found the book very self rightious and cold, a little warmth comes out, but he is so afraid to show the real human. I'm glad that I read this book. I still don't know the true man, that I voted for.

    True Compass

Excellent context of history of the last half of the 20th Century. Senator Kennedy's humble rehabilitation and redemption of his career and life from severe and challenging downfalls is inspiring for anyone recovering from disappointment.

    A Good Read

I enjoyed it very much. I wish it had been a little more insightful. I felt I got to know the personality and character of Ted Kennedy more than I had before.

    True Compass by Ted Kennedy

I thought it was an excellent book. I feel that it was an honest and revealing view of the senators life and his trials and tribulations. I was very moved by his personal accounts of the many tradegies that he and his family endured. I would have liked a few more details about those events. I also would have liked if more of the various stories about the family throughout the years had been addressed and answered in Ted's opinion.

    Last Lion

Having read the biography and the autobiography, I liked Last Lion better. Kennedy's memoir is just what you would expect- a pleasant re-telling of the highlights of his career. His supporters, like me, will undoubtedly like the book, and those who did not support him will likely not read it. But, I DID read it, and recommend it, especially in conjunction with the Last Lion.
