Do you trust God?
How many of us women have had trust issues? Have you been let down? Has a friend or loved one failed you? Has someone violated your trust and you have never got it back? Trust is tough for our hearts to wrap around. We want to be vulnerable with other people, after all, it is human nature, on the other hand, we can be completely crushed by being vulnerable with someone.
Maybe you are blessed to have friends that you can trust, who really do have your best interest at heart or maybe you have never had these kind of friendships. Maybe your life is one bad friendship after another, always being stabbed in the back.
The only person who will never let us down is God. He will always be there. He may not answer our prayer in the way we think or the way we want, but he is a trustworthy God. He cares about you, he loves you and will always be there for you. He says what he means and he means what he says. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He loves us unconditionally and is full of grace.
This book is a 12 week Bible study on Trusting God in all areas of your life! You really dig deep into the word of God. This would be great for a small group of women or with a friend over a cup of coffee. This study sucks you and makes you feel like you have know these three ladies for a lifetime. They have poured their hearts out in this devotional.
I love that you can write in this devotional and that each one ends with a prayer. This is a very down to earth bible study with a lot of heart and humility. I would recommend this for any small group or even on an individual basis!
You will Love Sharon, Gwen and Mary as they take you on the journey to trusting God in every area of your life through the good and the ugly.
Thank you waterbrook publishing for allowing me to review this book! The opinions expressed are my own and I was not compensated for this book.

In this book, three women come together to share their personal struggles with trusting God. The authors give stories and testimonies of how they learned to lean and trust our Heavenly Father.
Inside this easy read you will find a 12 week devotional study with a journal at the end of each week. Each day starts with Today's Truth- a scripture, Friend to Friend -their personal story, and Let's Pray -a prayer just for you.
Devotionals are my favorite type of book to read. It's just easier for me to read a quick, daily topic in just the right size. I like the authors' honesty and their practical advice on learning to trust God more each day, one step at a time.

Be honest. It doesn't matter who you are or what your circumstance is. There are times in your life when things get you down. I know this is true in my personal life. When things are at their worst. When things are going the way you had planned. When people don't do what you expected them to do. That's when it becomes the hardest to put your faith and trust in God. I recently received a copy of Trusting God. Trusting God is a Girlfriends in God Faith Adventure study written by Sharon Jaynes, Gwen Smith, and Mary Southerland. This twelve week Bible-study is an amazing reminder that you can trust in God no matter what is going on in your life. Each week of this study gives you five daily devotions written by one of the amazing authors. On day six each week you get to reflect on what you've read and studies. Questions to help you think through things. A place to write your reflections and a spot for a journal entry. This book is amazing to do as an individual Bible-study, but would also be so much fun as a group study. I recommend it for any woman, or group of women wanting to gain a deeper trust in God.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. "Trusting God" by Sharon Jaynes, Gwen Smith, and Mary
"Trusting God" by Sharon Jaynes, Gwen Smith, and Mary Southerland is a "Girlfriends in God Faith Adventure" that uses personal stories and experiences to help us relate to how we can build our trust in our Creator. This book is meant to be read as a devotional, with chapters being divided by weeks, and each chapter having one short reading for each day of that week, for twelve weeks. Was this review helpful? What I liked about this devotional is that it is similar to talking with your own girlfriends about personal experiences. We get to share in experiences, both good and difficult, just as we would with our friends in real life. This book offers a lot of great wisdom when it comes to building the trust in our relationship with God, and I thought it was very well written.
Each day's devotional offers a Bible verse, called "Today's Truth" which is the basis on which the personal story is based. Then, each devotional ends with a short prayer that is also tied into the general theme of that day's reading. At the end of the week, there is a short section named, "Now It's Your Turn" which allows you a place for reflection and to answer short questions about your personal relationship with God, as well as a space to maintain a journal based on the devotions from that week.
I would give this book a 5/5 - great for the busy mom or the corporate businesswoman. Versatile, funny, engaging, and inspiring.

The book is divided up into 12 weeks of 6 days of devotional with a day of rest in between. Each day begins with “Today’s Truth”, a scripture that will be the focus on the day’s devotional. The next section is the devotional called “Friend to Friend” and I felt like I was talking to a friend the whole time. Each days I learned something new about me and what God had in plan for me. It helped me to understand things a little easier. Each day concludes with a prayer. On the 6th day of each week is a study and meditation of the week with scriputres and questions that pertain to your life.
I hightly recommend this book to all women. This is something that you can read more than once and still feel like it’s the first time all over again. God is truly awesome and I thank Him for bringing this into my life to teach me to learn how to trust Him more!

the stories from each of the authors because they are real and they
share parts of their lives. If you've read my book review, you know that
I find books that share real life stories to be more captivating and
interesting. These ladies share their hearts and many times I was
touched to tears. One of the weeks had a study/devotional called
"Yes and Amen!". I especially loved when Gwen Smith shared
this: "You see, friend, the yes-and-amen promise here is that we
will bear fruit, not that we will necessarily see the fruit in our own
timing or even in our own lifetimes." Wow! For me this was such a
revelation because I always want to see the fruit of my labors NOW.
However, I realize that it doesn't matter if I see my fruit, only that
God and other's do. My concern is to live my life so that I DO produce
fruit for the Lord. The whole book is like this. Full of
"ah-ha" moments! Each day begins with a Scripture from the
Bible and the devotional is focused on that Scripture. At the end of
each week, there is a section called "Now It's Your Turn". In
this section you write down what you learned in that weeks devotionals.
I really liked how they did this part because it forced me to really
think and apply what I learned about the myself throughout the week and
also how I grew to know the Lord even deeper. I highly recommend this
book! It's like sitting down with a bunch of girlfriends and doing a
study together and chatting. It will bring you closer in your
relationship with the Lord, too, and isn't that what it's all about?

A 12 week, 6 day, bible study and encouragement, I really enjoy reading, "Trusting God: A Girlfriends in God Faith Adventure". Although, I took the time to read it more as a devotional and not as a bible study, I do have immediate plans to work through this book, in the fall. Was this review helpful? With contributions from familiar names, readers will find themselves, challenged, convicted and encouraged to learn to just "let go" and trust God a little bit more in their lives.
This type of book, is great for new moms, maybe people going through life changes, new followers of Christ, or maybe you just have that season in your life, where you need a little bit of an encouragement to just "let go and trust God" right now.
I found the writing very free flowing in the aspect that the writers, knowingly write in a conversational, having a pep talk over a cup of coffee (or tea) manner, that really pulls the reader in.
For those who are looking for something to add to their quiet time (when ever that might be), you'll be uplifted and find yourself fully charged going through this book.
Personally, I found this book good to either read at leisure, all in one day or night (if you're a fast reader or on vacation or have lots of time on your hands), while at the same time, makes for a great bible study book, be it by yourself or in a group.
The contributing writers are very down to earth, women you can relate to in all stages of your life and, "Trusting God: A Girlfriends in God Faith Adventure", not only clearly reflects that but they also offer a link on their "Girlfriends in God" which is worth looking into as well as the website as a whole.
I found myself nodding not just in agreement, but feeling really encouraged to take that extra step in my growth as a follower of Christ. The rhythm of the book truly captures the spirit of having those close girlfriends, in your life, who encourages you to take that extra step and reminding along the way, the strength and ability that we do have within all of us and part of that including, getting over that hesitation about trusting God.
The version I have is on an e-reader which makes it even more "take anywhere you are" worthy, but you can also find this book in a paperback version, particularly if you're, like me, the type whom enjoys highlighting, using a post it note and writing in the margins, when the books touches you in a personal way.
The content of the book is very scriptural based, the typeface is easy on the eyes to read, and I particularly just enjoyed the 12 week, 6 day setup, that makes it, again, a great bible study to work through, either by oneself or in a group setting.
This is a book so worth not only reading for yourself, but sharing with the women close to you in your lives and in a bible study setting.

I really enjoyed going through this devotional study. The three women authors have chosen topics that are issues for women who are struggling to trust God. Each week has five devotional readings with a final section called “Now it’s your turn” an opportunity to reflect on what you have read and to answer questions and journal. When I was going through this book, I did not read one devotional a day, I read several, because they were so quick and fun to read. However, if I was using it as a devotional, I can see the benefit of really taking your time to read through the devotions and meditating and memorizing the scripture that is provided for you at the beginning. I did find myself stopping to pray the prayer at the end of each reading and even adding more of my own prayer to God.
One thing I wish this book had is for each week in the Table of Contents to be labeled with a theme. When I think about going back to use this as a devotional book on my own, I may not want to go through week by week but choose readings that would apply to my life. However, this is not specified very clearly.
Otherwise, I truly enjoyed the devotionals in this book. I look forward to reading it again. Thank you WaterBrook Multnomah’s Blogging for Books program for this great devotional.

As I opened up the pages of this book, I found myself in a place where I had to Trust God. This book will bring your heart in tune with God and leave you wanting more. There are more times than not that after finishing reading I left in tears because I had been with Jesus.
Do take the time to answer the questions in the back. Let the scriptures take root deep into your soul. This book is a MUST READ. Go get a copy and experience God in a brand new way!

I had read the devotions the Girlfriends in God have written for a time before this book published but was happy when I read that they were doing a devotion book. I was not disappointed!! Each day’s devotion showed how you could put your trust in God in a different area. The best thing, overall, that I learned from this book was that I really trusted God more than I thought.
I participated in an on-line study of this book where several others shared the leadership roles. The days that it was my turn to lead, it was so easy to share how I could apply that particular days’ devotion to my life… or to see some place where I was already trusting God. Although I did the book the first time with a group, it is still a wonderful devotion book to do on your own.
The format was very enjoyable with 5 days of devotions and one day of reflection questions to dig a little deeper into God’s word, as well as to make you think a little more about how you can apply what you have read to your life. The GIGs even made a video that you can watch at the beginning of each week. These can be found on the Trusting God section of their website.
This was a wonderful book that I would recommend to anybody – either for their personal resource or as a gift to any Christian woman looking for a devotion book to take them a little deeper. I have recommended it to many personal friends as well as recommending it in the on-line community.

It is a beautifully written inspirational 12 week devotional written by the Girlfriends In God ministry team-Sharon, Mary and Gwen. These three women share the spiritual nuggets that they have discovered as they have embarked on their own personal journeys in discovering the peace of knowing how to trust God completely and submit to His plan for their lives. At the end of each chapter, you are invited to complete a Bible study guide page and also to do some self -reflection as you write on your own personal journal page.It is designed to suit your own personal needs so you can use it as an individual personal growth study or also in a small group setting .Was this review helpful? You will sometimes laugh and sometimes cry but I promise you that you will discover spiritual truths and promises in the Word of God referenced in this devotional that will enable you to learn what it really means to trust God.
I have been able to truly understand more fully what Psalm 23:2 means:"He makes me to lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside still waters."(NIV). I have loved having my coaches and girlfriends, Sharon, Mary and Gwen right by my side encouraging and inspiring me daily during this 12 week journey to discovering what it truly means to trust God.
As I continue on this journey, I invite you to embark on your own personal journey to discovering the true meaning and contentment that can be found as you really learn to trust Him and I promise you that it is a decision that you will not regret. My life has truly been transformed because of this devotional and I am learning how to walk in the peace that comes from placing my trust in Him. I highly recommend that every woman add this book to her reading list and I guarantee you that it will be a book that you will read over and over again. May I also suggest that you invite a few girlfriends along for the ride? I did and I can tell you that none of us will ever be the same.

Excellent book and can be done as a bible study. Highly recommend it!
This is a book that should be a keeper for those times when you have doubts and fears. We live in a chaotic world and one needs to keep our eyes on the Lord for He is our security. His promises are very real as pointed out in this book. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
I have chosen to trust Him for my present and future. The past is gone and I cannot change it. I am living just this day letting God take care of my future. I wake each morning giving him my cares and then ask Him to guide me in making good decisions that day.

Wonderful devotional no matter where you are in your spiritual journey!
Trusting God - A Girlfriends in God Faith Adventure is a devotional-style book divided into 12 weeks. There is a section at the end of each week that contains questions which help you digest and apply all that was read throughout the week and even journal about what you are learning (or being reminded of). The really nice thing about it is you could do this alone (with just God, yourself, and the "girlfriends" you will meet in the book) or with any number of women you want. Sharon, Gwen, and Mary have the gift of taking common life experiences and pulling beautiful spiritual lessons from them that are easy to understand. The truths that you read will help give you a new perspective on the issue of trusting God with your heart and life and all that entails (which, honestly, no matter how long we have walked with Him, trust can be an issue at times for all of us). So whether you are just getting to know the Lord and need to know what relying on Him looks like in the realities of life or just need sweet reminders of how trust worthy our Lord is, this book is for you!Was this review helpful? A Must Read
I've been following the authors of this book for over four years now through their website and daily email devotions. I was at a tough point in my life when I discovered them, so their words were a soothing balm to my soul. Imagine how excited I became when I discovered they had published a book together! I couldn't wait to receive my copy and when I did I wasn't one bit disappointed. They continue to amaze me by delivering just what at need at just the right time. If you are searching for a Devotional/Bible study that will make you feel as though you personally know the authors after a few pages, then this is the book for you. Their words embolden you with the feeling that God will be there through every trial, problem, and fear you will ever know. I feel blessed to be able to catch a glimpse into the lives of these ladies and share their love for the Author and Creator of life. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I love the format of this book! It gives you daily devotionals every week, followed by end of the week reflection questions. Even thought the questions require some soul searching, they are so worth it! It really allowed me to search my heart and to understand why I do the things I do. The devotionals are great ways to see God in everyday life and to dig into what God wants to do for you. Sharon, Gwen and Mary deliver God's truth in a way that anyone can understand. So simple but so deep! So good! It makes me want to dig deeper into the Bible and study more for myself. Trusting God has revealed how I have cheated God and I need to depend on God more and give Him my life completely. This book will impact your life in a positive way! Buy one for yourself and give another to a friend!

Comfort book~ challenging and faith stirring
This is a book of devotions focused on building your faith in Christ. Often in the Psalms, the writer reflects how God brought him through his storms of life. This book is a collection of stories experienced by the authors. These gals encourage their readers to take time and journal their own faith building experiences so in times of their own storms they can reflect back on the Father's faithfulness and unconditional love. Was this review helpful? Make "trusting God" a habit, not just a hope through this touching book
"Trusting God" is one of those books that can quickly resemble a journal as you underline, write notes in the margin, and fill out the sections to dig deeper into your spiritual trek. Three women share their spiritual journey with you, and use their experiences to broaden your hope in Christ, renew your outlook on the day, and give you topics to reflect on through prayer as you go about your day.Was this review helpful? Sharon Jaynes, Gwen Smith, and Mary Southerland are the women behind the popular online devotions, "Girlfriends in God" and in this book, each of them share the individual lessons they have learned about trusting God in the most difficult times. Rather than make most of the content about their story, as many books do, in each 4-5 page daily reading they spend time highlighting passages in the Bible that they turned to to get through the different ordeals.
Too many books say, ". . . and then I turned to God and felt all better." Authors can easily forget that many readers don't know what it means exactly to turn to God. How do you "surrender it over to God" or "find peace in God"? While the Holy Spirit always steps in when we turn to God, some of us need some logical steps or scriptures to rely on to know how to take these first steps or what to pray. I enjoyed how each of these three co-authors explained how they got from worry to trust.
Each daily reading ends with a prayer that is refreshing and honest, not a quick wrap up of the devotion. I found the prayers to be close to what I would actually pray after reading the content. For those who are weary and overwhelmed by their concerns and needs, having your thoughts expressed so well at the end is a great jumping off point for prayer.
Each week concludes with a section called "Now it's Your Turn." These give the reader the opportunity to find practical ways to apply what she has learned in the last seven days to her own life, outside of just her emotions.
You will read about Gwen participating in a wresting match as a fifth-graders, Sharon as a child who both lost and found a dog name Lassie, and Mary as she grabs for a hot grill to break a fall.
Through my ministry I serve those with chronic illness or pain. "Just trust God with it" is the advice that many well-meaning friends tell those who are going through significant fears and concerns, as well as constant physical pain. Trusting God is easy to talk about, but putting it into place is a small choice we make a million times a day, practicing it until it becomes a habit to trust instead of worry. This 12-week book will help you make that happen.
This is one of those books that you will put on your nightstand to turn to each morning for refreshment, but then, before heading out the door for a doctor's appointment (and likely a long wait) you will run back and grab and stick this book in your purse.
You will laugh out loud while reading this, and sometime bite your lip to hold back a tear, but best of all, you will come to define that phrase "just trust God" in a new way that you can apply to your life starting today.
