Accessible, clear introduction to the existence of real truth in our postmodern culture

I am a big fan of John MacArthur, not because he is necessarily the most eloquent or enlightening author/speaker I have encountered, but on literally every scriptural issue of importance he has taken a strong stand to defend the Bible and the truth. The case is no different with this book, which seeks to expose the fallacies of the emergent church and other truth-denying Christian movements. He explains their philosophical roots and the significance of their truth statements. Excellent read, highly recommended.

Another Excellent Book from John MacArthur

This is an excellent book with documentation relating to the issues of the emergent church, and pastors and congregations trying to change the doctrinal authority of God's Word.

The Bible speaks of spiritual leaders in the latter times speaking to "itching ears" and Dr. MacArthur is very specific and organized in his documentation relating to this and other issues.

Although I love this book it would be hard reading for general readers as Dr. MacArthur uses many complex words and terms. It would have been better if he would have used a different choice of words in many areas as this would make this book easier reading and be able to be enjoyed by many who perhaps do not have a college education or knowledge of complex terms.

With all that said, I still give this book a solid "5 stars".

    I Also Recommend:

The truth shall set you free!

John MacArthur is known for writing some of the most important books for the modern Christian era, and the Truth War is another in his canon. It's one of his greatest works, and speaks on a topic that needs to be addressed and internalized by all Christians living on God's green earth.

I heard different views regarding how accurate MacArthur's interpretation of the emergent church really is. But nonetheless, his views on upholding truth should be an important practice for Christians. As much as there are emerging churches out there that are doing God's work in an ethical manner, it's undeniable that there are also lost Christians who have been deceived by prosperity gospel preaching churches, heretic organizations, or even overly liberal emerging churches. They've never truly been born again, or are following a false version of the gospel. In this case, we must help them.

This book explores the importance of standing up for truth and defending it with great biblical passages, examples, and stories from past history. If you truly have a love for the word of God, then you will fight for it, no matter how "fundamentalist" or exacting you may appear. People's eternity is at stake, and we should always remember that fact.

In all, I highly recommend this book. It's one that I would give out to every Christian if I had the money. It's good for both evangelists, bible study teachers, and any Christian willing to expand God's Kingdom in this world.

    Stay away from this one...

I could not even finish this book. He claims to write according to scripture but he interprets scripture to fit what he wants to say and not what the scriptures really mean. His writing is also very boring. Go read C S Lewis instead. Much better for your head and your soul.
