Mary & Jayson Blair have much in common.
Both are thoroughly discredited and, as is the case in liberal circles, got a book-deal out of it. Had the displeasure of hearing the regal Mapes on radio. She¿s extremely arrogant and condescending. Had the greater displeasure of reading her pretzel twist reasoning to explain how thoroughly discredited memos were somehow otherwise. She endlessly cites her journalistic credentials and more endlessly cites dark forces in the big business world of CBS. What she never does is come clean. To her it¿s everyone else¿s fault, and never her own. (If anything this is a book for psychology majors working on a thesis of denial or obsession.) Simply amazing how anyone could invest stock in this book. Press it into service only if your bent on embarrassing yourself more than the obsessed Mapes did to herself. If you hate G.W. Bush, but love fiction, then this is definitely a book for you.

OUTSTANDING - and scary!
Captivating inside look at how the MSM serves their corporate and political interests first - and NOT the public. One can't watch 10 minutes of Fox News without hearing some sort of distortion of the truth, and Mapes and Rather were railroaded for using a questionable memo to bolster a proven story...only in the Bush America! Was this review helpful? A Great Book
I was really impressed. It's a great book and I recommend to everyone. You will be surprised how little you know about the story. It's also a riveting book - beautifully written and very interesting. Only those who are extremely narrow-minded would be critical of what she has written. Mary Mapes is a great woman. Our country needs a woman of her guts and wit.Was this review helpful?
