Excellent Sword and Sorcery Fantasy
I picked up "Tyrant Moon" after seeing Corvidae on a panel at a fantasy convention. I was surprised st just how much I enjoyed the story. :)Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
Thraxis and Arrow are terrific characters. While Thraxis starts out as whiny and almost unlikeable, he changes and matures over the course of the tale. Viabold is a riot, while Blathasar (the villain) is actually a bit sympathetic.
Plus, I really like how Corvidae structures the narrative. The chapters flip-flop between the main story of Arrow and Thraxis fighting Balthasar, and the "prequel" in which Arrow sets out on her quest to find help against Balthasar; the two narratives fold together neatly, with the book ending in the same place it began.
Highly recommended to fans of epic fantasy, or those looking for a story with a strong female protagonist. -- lyradora
