    better than chocolate

When it comes to good music, there is nothing like the honesty you hear in Joe Cocker’s deep and in my opinion sexy voice. I have been listening to the Joe Cocker Ultimate Collection repeatedly since I received it as a Valentines Day gift. This cd is much better than a box of chocolate that will make you fat, or roses that will eventually die. This cd has all of Joe’s famous songs that he has sung in his 30+ career. I love the opening song “With a little help from my friends”, and you can’t go wrong with “Delta Lady” and “She came in through the bathroom room window,” my boyfriend dedicated “You are so beautiful” which always makes me feel good in those tough times. This is a wonderful cd, and if you want to purchase any Joe Cocker music, I recommend this cd.

    Ultimate Collection

True music is hard to define, but I believe that you can hear it in the voice of people that have actually felt pain, and that is why in this modern day of pop, sizzle, and shine music that seems to be coming out lately, Joe Cocker will always stand out. It’s very refreshing to hear the wonderful music that the JOE COCKER ULTIMATE COLLETCION has. His gravelly voice and heartfelt lyrics are one of a kind, and should be admired and listened to for the greatness that it is. This c.d. starts off with the beautiful, touching, and everlasting “With a little help from my friends” and continues with other great hits throughout his career like, “You can leave your hat on” and, “You are so beautiful” which has become a wedding and karaoke staple throughout the country. He has some amazing duets with the Crusaders “I’m so glad I’m standing here today”, and the simplicity and elegance he displayed with the duet with Jennifer Warnes on “Up where we belong” which helped catapult him back to prominence. Other great hits to look out for are the 90’s version of “Unchain my heart.” This cd lives up to its name because it truly is Joe Cockers Ultimate Collection!

    Ultimate Collection

this is some definite mood music for you and your lady. i had no idea there were so many songs sung by cocker that i've always loved. After listening to it I was like, “Oh, I know that song. And that one. And that one.” I realized I knew at least half the songs. except of course 'You are so beautiful', b/c that one is just legendary. seems like every wedding i've ever attended played that song sometime during the night. and theres 'With a little help from my friends'. i didnt even realize cocker sang that song (yknow, the Wonder Years theme). the beatles wrote it, but i still like cocker's version better. this is supposed to be the only record to collect his whole career on one cd, which pretty tough considering it covers 30 years. and the players and guest singers are so diverse - soooo many cool players on here. Page, Jimmy Cliff, Billy Preston, Randy Newman, etc.

    Collection worth listening to

A friend of mine just told me Joe Cocker released a new greatest hits, and I can’t get over how good it is. It’s titled “Ultimate Collection”, and it is really Ultimate because it covers 30 years of his career, all of his hits from 1969-1999 are on this album. If you don’t know who Joe Cocker is, let me briefly inform you; he is an awesome British rock singer that covers a majority of his songs, you will forget about the originals after listening to his soulful voice take over the songs. The collection starts off with the track, “With A Little Help From My Friends”, an original Beatles song, but this one is of course cooler, cause its with non other then Jimmy Page!! Other tracks I totally dig are “Summer in the City”, “You Can Leave Your Hat On” and a live version of “Cry me a River” (not the Justin Timberlake song, only the song title he ripped off!) There is this hunger within Cocker’s voice that makes me rejoice and really feel the emotion behind his songs. This album is a must have for fan of music. An album anyone can listen to and enjoy. With so many good songs and a ton of artists such as The Crusaders, Randy Newman, and Jennifer Warnes helping him out on some tracks.

    Bringin back the rock

I remember seeing Joe Cocker in 69” at the first Woodstock festival, to think it was 35 years ago, my wife bought me “Ultimate Collection” recently and I felt like a kid again. Cocker is one of those artists with a voice you don’t ever forget, the voice stays with you throughout the years and you never forget his songs. I own a great deal of Cocker albums, and this by far the most enjoyable compilation album of his. Hailing from Sheffield, Joe has made a career by covering a vast majority of his songs. One of my favorites on the “Ultimate Collection” is a cover of the Lovin’ Spoonfull’s ‘summer in the City’; this song brings back great memories of playing baseball in the summer heat of the 60’s. Another favorite of mine is the classic song ‘You can leave your hat on’, a song both my wife and I have enjoyed dancing to over the years I fully recommend this album for any Joe Cocker fan, as young fans go, definitely check this album out, get a good sense of older rock and what its all about.
