The first volume in Ultra's rather popular Ultra Trance series, released in 2002 and mixed by David Waxman, is (much like the volumes that would follow) a patchy assortment of major anthems and non-descript fluff. Waxman keeps his ego out of the two-disc, 24-track sequence, allowing each selection a few minutes before discreetly moving on to the next one, so

this is one of my better albums in my collection. lots of different beats, so you're bound to fall in love with a couple of songs. "moonlight shadow" and "punk" alone are worth the cost.

2nd CD gets 5 stars....the 1st CD in the set gets 1 star. 1st is painfully pop (not that pop is inherently bad); how could anyone want to hear a "trance" version of anything Mr. Mister. On the other hand, CD #2 is worth the price of both - first 5 songs are can't miss mixes, starting off hard with "Punk" - this track seems to be or will be the new "Sandstorm" in clubs.

This latest 2-cd dance mix by Ultra is a well blended collection of popular trance songs. There are some really nice songs such as Snap! Vs. Plaything's "Do You See The Light", "Madelyne's "Beautiful Child", Flip And Fill's "Shooting Star", 4 String's "Diving" and Marc Et Claude's "Tremble". If you like your trance music on the commercial side then you'll love this cd.

I keep buying hot dance and trance albums. This year I've been delighted by the "Ultra Dance 1," "Ultra Dance 2," and similar titles (except the "Chilled"). When "Ultra Trance 1" came out, I snatched it up and listened to it with delight. While listening to a new album, I'll take little green dots and place them on the album cover next to the names of cuts I particularly like. This album got green dots for all but two of the items on both disks! (I won't tell you which ones got my 2nd rated "blue dots.") This is a hot compilation where the energy and quality is consistent throughout the two disks. Well worth having!
