I thought this started slow, but by the end, I stayed up late to finish the book to see how the book was going to end. I would like to read the next book to find out what happens to Spencer, Micah and Hadrian. Another YA love triangle, but it did have unique twists. Was this review helpful? I liked the Mythology and small things like making distinction between Thanatos/Thayer, God of Death and Hades, God of the Dead/Underworld. The tour of the Underworld and visiting all 5 rivers was fascinating and educational. Of course, it didn't hurt that Hadrian was tall, dark and gorgeous.
Quinn and Sydney were such understanding and constant friends to Spencer. Most teenage girls would've abandoned their un-fun depressed friend months ago. I didn't like the secrets that Spencer keeps from her friends and even Micah and the story is so much better when more people know the story.
Micah's ghost is a great way to meet and know him, but it truly isn't healthy for Spencer. I was impatient to find out how Micah had died and could not believe that it was not revealed until half way through the book. Hadrian/Hades challenges Spencer's post-Micah existence and I liked the deal they struck. Rather than being tied to seasons like Persephone, Spencer goes to the Underworld at night or rather 12 hours each day.
I could spot the cliffhanger ending from half way through the book, but there were some nice twists before it left you hanging.
