recommended to someone who enjoys paranormal romances
I took a step out of my comfort zone with this book from Ambrielle Kirk, and I must say I was pleased with the way this part of the series turned out. This was the second book in the series, and I admit I didn’t read the first, but I liked the book for its part in the series, and I plan to go back to the first book to see how this all started.
Raiden and Erin were interesting characters to get to know. I can’t exactly say I fell in love with them, but I was enthralled enough with them to want to know what happened next. The romance built up pretty well, and it smoldered as the book continued. For a demi-demon, Raiden didn’t strike me as the sweet and romantic type, but I was surprised by the way Erin responded to him, especially when she played the “hard to get” role, but at the same time she didn’t want to play hard to get because of her intrigue of his darker side. Funny how it always seems to work out that way.
I enjoyed the descriptive imagery of her words and it gave me the ability to really sit down and enjoy the surroundings she created, and as a reader I appreciate that above all else. Anytime I can indulge and allow the book to let me escape, I have to give kudos to the author.
The only issue I had with the book was the lack of an ending or a cliffhanger that would give me a reason to anticipate the next book in the series, but that’s probably my only issue. It felt rushed at the end, after doing such a great job of fleshing out the characters and the world building and everything.
All in all, I would recommend this series to someone who enjoys paranormal romances, and I would be willing to read another of Ambrielle’s books in the future.
