Another funny mystery by Lois Greiman
Christina 'Chrissy' McMullen is a psychologist. She used to be a cocktail waitress. Her gorgeous secretary Elaine 'Laney' is a wanna-be actress. She can have just about any man she wants. So why did she choose Jeen Solberg, a nerd Chrissy had dated and rejected? Now Solberg is missing. He went to a convention in Las Vegas and hasn't been seen or heard from since. Laney is worried. He called her regularly. Then nothing. She tried reaching him and a woman answered the phone. Chrissy agrees to find out what happened. She's hoping he's dead, because if he took up with a showgirl, she'll kill him herself. Chrissy isn't sure what she feels for Lieutenant Jack Rivera. This just adds to her problems. Then she meets one of Solberg's associates. Can she trust him? As she gets closer to the truth, it becomes more dangerous. Can she find Solberg without putting herself in a killer's path? I love this series. Chrissy is such a fun character. I find myself laughing out loud when I read these books. The predicaments she gets herself into in this book are truly entertaining. The sexual tension with her and Rivera adds to it, too. All the characters are well rounded and the plot moves along at a good pace. There are plenty of twists to keep you guessing. I highly recommend this book.

Lois Grieman Excels with McMullen Mysteries
Christine McMullen broke onto the L.A. psychotherapy scene in Lois Greiman¿s breakout novel Unzipped and hasn¿t quit analyzing since. It¿s been a few months since she has been accused of murder, and since police detective Jack Rivera left her all hot and bothered. She has clients. She has classy fashion sense. She has Elaine Butterfield, her best friend and receptionist cum actress. What more could a girl ask for? Besides, if Laney is dating self-proclaimed technical geek J.D. ¿Jeen¿ Solberg, what hope is there for the mere women of the universe? When Solberg doesn¿t return from a business trip to Vegas and doesn¿t return Laney¿s calls, Chrissy finds herself spiraling down a rabbit hole she would rather ignore. But Laney¿s worried about Jeen and Chrissy would do anything to ensure Laney¿s happiness, including breaking and entering, spying on Solberg¿s neighbors and dating one of Solberg¿s co-workers to see if she can find out any reason why Solberg would disappear and break Laney¿s heart. To make matters worse, Chrissy can¿t seem to shake Detective Rivera, something her starved libido decides isn¿t necessarily a bad thing. Jack wants information. But does he want Chrissy? And does she want a man who seems to have commitment issues, even if he is a walking wet-dream? Lois Greiman¿s series is exceptional. She writes a heroine who is witty, wise and fun. The sexual tension is thick and the mystery is well written. Fans of Stephanie Plum will definitely enjoy the exploits of Chrissy McMullen.

cross between Stephanie Plum and Harry Minor
Chrissy McMullen went from being an Illinois cocktail waitress to a Los Angeles psychologist between her two professions she considers herself an expert on the human condition. Her best friend Laney Butterfield works as her receptionist and there isn¿t anything she wouldn¿t do for her including finding her boyfriend Jeen Solberg who disappeared at a convention in Las Vegas for techno-geeks. This is a true test of friendship because she can¿t stand Solberg who she calls many derogatory names to everyone but Laney. --- Solberg¿s boss has not heard from him but isn¿t worried because in Vegas Jeen told him he needed a few days vacation time. Nobody else has heard from him either including his co-workers and next door neighbor. Solberg calls Chrissy to ask her to meet him at a designated location. When she goes to get her car two thugs abduct and manhandle her but she escapes. She learns that Solberg¿s boss thinks he embezzled $500,000 dollars from the company but Chrissy is sure that is not true and he is in trouble. She asks questions and ends up turning herself over to the real perpetrator in return for letting the person he kidnapped go. Now Chrissy is alone with some very dangerous men and has no idea how to extricate herself from the situation. --- Lois Greiman¿s protagonist is a cross between Stephanie Plum and Harry Minor of the Mrs. Murphy series. Chrissy gets herself into zany, dangerous and unusual predicaments like Stephanie but she also has the savvy of Harry which allows her to extricate herself from potentially lethal situations without the help of a man. Lieutenant Jack Rivera is sticking to Chrissy in the hopes she will confide in him and like in UNZIPPED the sexual tension is so thick, one can cut it with a knife. The mystery is well written and readers will thoroughly UNPLUGGED. --- Harriet Klausner
