Different Hero and Heroine would have been better

Really disappointing in my opinion. I was actually expecting a lot of people to rate this particular book badly but was vastly surprised to know just the opposite.
First off, the characters did not come alive for me. They were not like those characters that make you feel as though they are real. These two are just two dimensional plain characters.
First off, Rosaleen is supposed to be smart? In what sense? I could not even finish the book due to her stupidity, simple and narrow mindedness, recklessness, annoying and empty headed female characteristic. Seriously, why did the author give us the impression that she is smart while she's not?! Her character is not even realistic!
When she first time-travels with Thorn, they go to a gory battle. At first she was dubious whether it was real or not but she soon finds out that it is the latter. So, witnessing her first battle-she was totally fine with it. She was fine with all the blood spilling on her. She was totally fine with seeing men get stabbed from left to right, or see men breath their last breathe or see men in the brink of life and death. She was totally fine when Thorn beheads a man in front of her as well. Oh but please don't think that she was such a b*tch to not feel anything at all. There was a time when she was distressed! She remembered that they might be altering the future with Thorn's killing spree at the moment. She starts to get worried that what if one of her ancestor dies here and she would cease to exist!!! She gets annoyed at the thought but was greatly relieved when Thorn informs her that those men were meant to perish anyway. But again, she gets annoyed with Thorn for not telling her first thing so she could have sit-backed, relaxed and enjoyed the show while he was murdering everyone unfortunate enough.

Why I don't think this is realistic? And I do not mean all the time-travel stuff. First off, a 21st century woman fine with seeing all these for the first time?!? I think not! She also charges at the battle twice to yell at Thor; ignoring all the peril that might happen. Ex. He might get distracted and get killed(not that he could with such circumstances but COME ON.. any person with common sense would not put herself in the middle of the battle considering she's endangering herself and Thorn with her wrong time of out-spokeness. Seriously?!

Secondly, she tells Thorn that it weren't for her knowledge of the past, she would have died when she was attacked by those soldiers. If she were smart, she would have known better than to go off by herself and look for Thorn while he specified for her to stay in the tent. But of course not, she has to prove to Guy and Thorn that she's an independent 29 year old female. So she runs out from the tent and goes off looking for him while Guy has told her that there is 6000 soldiers looming about. She says that she's probably the smartest person alive in William the Conqueror's time but wow.. what major stupidity. It might sound mean but she should have at least suffered more when she was saved by the knight. One little kiss on the lips? A little more would have thought her a lesson !! She really was annoying especially when Thorn was reprimanding her due to her stupidity! She gets angry at him then at the knight because of the payment he might demand and then angry back again at Thorn because he said he'd kill him before he let's that happen. She might be 29 years old but her recklessness is that of a 15 year old female!

    Interesting read

I enjoyed this book and found it to be well written, fast paced and interesting. I would have liked the ending to be different though. It was a slight let down at the end but overall a good book.

    Every Rose needs a Thorn

Imagine finding an ancient sword that when handled summons a gorgeous Viking who must obey your every whim and fancy. Sounds like a nice problem to have! But Rose is in no way prepared for the adventure Thorn takes her on. It is a great fantasy escape book. Lindsey is very good at the craft of romance novels. I was excited to find a paranormal romance by her! The story takes you from modern day to history and back again. You can't help but adore Thorn and his very "old world" ideals. And Rose is not the usual damsel in distress too often found in romance fiction. I highly recommend this book for fans of both romance and paranormal.

    New fan!!!

I am a new fan of Johanna Lindsey, and this is the second book of hers I have read. I LOVED it!! I thought it was fantastic! I am a huge fan of time travel books and this one is a keeper. I loved both Roseleen and Thorn and I just loved the ending! It took me by surprise and made me feel good. I will certainly be reading many many more of Johanna's books and getting her entire back list!

    not a favorite of mine

Ok I love Johanna Lindsey but this is not one of my favorites. I guess I'm not into THAT kind of fantasy. Going back and forth into the future is not really my type of romance novel. It's a good thing she's only written one of these kind of books.

    Really, really a great book...

This book was simply wonderful - I couldn't put it down. In fact, I finished it in a matter of only a day and a half. There were places when I felt the urge to laugh, to cry, and sometimes - to do both at the same time. Definitely a recommended read.

    Timeless love...

I have enjoyed Ms. Lindsey's books so far, and loved the character interactions. Although, some of the storylines seem to be reflections of her other books, it is best that a different plot should be chosen everytime so as not to have the stories 'blend' into each other.

    until forever

I think that johanna lindsey writes every good books and her books seem so real and how real love should be in real life. i think that with her character she makes them how she wants them not how she thinks that everuone esle would like them to be. i also think that with her books that she makes them seem how she would really want love to be for everyone in her eyes. Also with her books she makes them all seem that they all go tgether. i really enjoy reading her books they make me want to stay there and read more bout what is going to happen next in the bookor to the characters in the book.

    love across the ages

this is an amazing story.i felt as if i was part of this story and i simply could not put this book down.to seek for love through a 1000years and then find it ,only to be torn apart because of the time difference, is truely gut wrenching stuff.the way in which JL brings thorn and roseleen together is brilliant.i never wanted this book to end.

    Love Across Time

I thought this was one of the cutest Johanna Lindsey books ever. The idea of a gorgeous Viking bound to his sword by a curse is enough to make me want to start collecting ancient weapons. This is a wonderful story, full of humor and excitement.
