A great addition to SAT preparation.

While the book may not be the only thing you will need for preparing for the SAT, it's a lot better than the rest! It is way easier to read, in fact it's almost fun! There are some tips in here that I haven't seen in anything else, and while the essay section is relatively short, it's still pretty interesting. The only warning I would give is if you get other SAT books, read this one close to last - I read it, and then tried to read a different book, and had a really hard time with it since all the other books seem really boring after Up Your Score. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

    Incredible

This book covers every subject of the SAT 1, and is brilliantly entertaining. If you're a first time SAT-er then I would definetly reccomend it. Cute pictures, catchy phrases and funny jokes make the burdens of the SAT easy to remember!!!

    Oh...The SAT

This is probably one of the most interesting study guides for the SAT. They really have found a way to make studying much more interesting by incoroporating puns and sarcasm and I enjoy being able to laugh while studying. It really has been helpful, however in order to be really prepared for the SAT you'll need other study aids.

    A Good Buy

This book provides great tips for studying along with humor to break the bordem of studying. I suggest buying this book but I think it should be paired with another studying aid.

    YEAH!

Such a good book.. I found it entertaining, educational etc.. it made preparation for the SATs actually FUN! I took the SATs the first time without reading this book and didn't quite get the score I had hoped for, and I'll be taking it again next week, but this time I'm prepared!

    GREAT... With Another Book

You've read the other reviews, and you know what to expect in this book... It is a great tool for the SAT. But, you need to use this book with one other, or two if you are really lagging behind. Look at reccommended titles. Kaplan Math Mania is extremely helpful because it reviews the concepts necessary for the SAT. 10 Real Sat's is invaluable; there are no substitutes for the real thing. Just don't use their test prep, use Underground Guide's.

    helpful

this book was great especially for vocabulary review with helpful mneumonic devices and such. its a good choice if you dont have enough time to prepare. the only thing i didn't like about the book was that there weren't practice exercizes. so, my advice is, use this book with another book, such as Barrons.

    A Fantastic Book!

Finally a departure from the boring Princeton Review books that try to make you think they're telling you something that no one else knows, secrets from inside the vaults. This book tells you the real truth about ETS and their deceptive ways. With a researched vocab list and an extremely helpful math section, Up Your Score should be what every high school student taking the dreaded SAT should read. It tells it like it is, which is exactly what kids who are completely stressed out about their 'life-altering' scores need to hear.

You need this book if your taking the sats

For anyone stressed about the sats, i suggest you pick up a copy of this book. Filled with useful tips, this book really did help me up my score. The verbal section of Up your score is extremely helpful, it is soo easy to remember the vocab words with the funny sentences they provide(ex: When Abigale's sister cleaned out the cookie jar, she yelled 'ab ate all the cookies'. But eventually her anger abated.)you'll never forget the meanings. I would recommend getting another book if math is where you are looking to improve, though, since this one only reviews the basics.

    FUNNY AND INFORMITIVE!!

It is so refreshing coming across an SAT prep book I really like. I am only thirteen, but after opening this book in the store, had to have it! It is so funny and informative with great tips. It was so interesting that my twelve year old brother was cracking up and begging to read it! The introduction is hilarious! Thank you crew at UP YOUR SCORE!

Excellent Book for Normal Average People!!

I am 14 years old and its my second time taking the SATs. My old Barron's book is so dull that i quit reading it in less than 5 minutes. But this book is so refreshing and hilarious that i actually stayed up until one in the morning reading the jokes and tips. I reconmmend this to anyone who can't stay awake with those 500 page review books. ( thats most of us ), because this book works, it makes it fun to learn and prepare for the SAT.

Offbeat, Honest, and Best Approach to the SAT's

I read this book over the summer, and I couldn't put it down. Name one other SAT book that can do that. This book isn't focused on giving fake test questions, but rather tells you the right ways to approach the test, some of which are so racy that no other review book would dare say so. This book was the first time I studied for the test, and on my first practice test (an actual SAT), I got a 1400! I was aiming for a 1450, but since I'm taking the test about 6 months from now, I'm aiming much higher. Now I can save thousands that I would have spent on a Princeton Review Course. Recommended for ANYONE. I'd give it six stars if there was an option.

    Very good

I have the previous version, and it is AWESOME. I can actually get through the book without falling asleep, which I do all the time with my Princeton Review book. If it's anything like the one I have, it's gonna be great.

The only book they'll actually read

My son is currently a senior at Georgetown, but an earlier version of this book was the only one he would read. It is laugh out loud funny (think Monty Python or Saturday Nite Live humor) but the tips are outstanding and the way they use the words guarantees the kids will actually remember them. I have recommended this book to many people and all have given it rave reviews

    Amazing

As all other review books are extremely boring, and you obviously can't learn when your bored, Up Your Score changes the perspective on test preparation. It's interesting and humerous, and gives you valuable test taking tips, in a more applicable way than Kaplan or Barrons. Other books also make up questions that do not resemble SAT questions. Up Your Score doesn't waste time or pages on that. If you want practice, get REAL practice tests from 10 REAL SAT's.

    This book kicks!!!

Im only twelve and I hate to read, yet this book is funny and I like it a lot!! It tells you all you need to know about the SAT in a cool way!It lists many weird and funny ways to remember important facts. The 6 people who wrote the book really did ace the test...so they should know.Even if your just getting ready for the test to come in a year or two, you should at least review it.
