Great read for true crime fans

Years ago I saw the movie The Valachi Papers, with Charles Bronson, and recently decided to read the book to see if the book had any resemblance to that of the movie. I was not disappointed. Many of the names and terminology explained in the book, unknown in the mid 1960s, are common today. The Valachi Papers is read for those who like crime books or want to learn more about the beginnings of the Mafia in the US in the 20th Century.

    Kept My Interest

I liked this book a lot! It kept my interest! I recommend it to anyone who likes to read about organized crime. I wish it would have gone into a little more detail then it did but I really liked it.

A must read for 'The Godfather' fans

Maas and Valachi go into intricate detail on inside accounts of the Mafia that werent in all the movies. Its Goodfellas and Godfather wrapped together in terrifying realism. A must read for Mob intruige.

    A great read!!

This is a great book for all true fans of organized crime books. This is basically a history of the mafia from the pre-commision days all the way to the early sixties. It reads almost as if Joe Valachi was talking to you himself. He breaks down the who, what, where, when and why. Without his testimony we would probably all still be in the dark about the mafia.
