Vampire Kisses is what orginally got me into vampires. The main character, Raven Madison, is easy to relate to and it is every bit as thrilling as Twilight, just, in a different way than you would think. And, of course, it doesn't hurt that Alexander Sterling is completely and utterly gorgeous.
Definetly give this book a try sometime. It's worth it. It's very different from Twilight, meaning IT IS NOT A RIP OFF OF THE SAGA!! Really, I hate it when people automatically assume that every vampire novel out there is a Twilight rip-off.

Even as vampire novels go, this is a stinker. It was probably the cheesiest thing ever, and absolutely no thought went into it. Everything about the vampire lore was traditional and illogical (they had to sleep in coffins, allergic to garlic, could change into bats), and there was nothing in this book that you couldn't find in vampire movie 80 years ago. And Raven, the protangonist, was not "Goth". No matter how many times you call yourself Goth, no matter how many times you use the words "gothic" on the page, that does not make you Goth. True Goths do not define themselves to a Goth stereotype. The romance between Alexander (who has no personality) and Raven was completely flat. The romance consisted of this: Raven sees Alexander and automatically falls in love with him based on his appearance (which she describes constantly) and decides it is true love. Raven does not go through the process of falling in love, nor does she displays that she loves him. She simply meets him and tells the readers she loves him. The dialogue amongst all the characters is predictable, as all the plot twists. Even though I am not a big fan of Twilight, it would be a step up compared to this series.

    I Also Recommend:

    Boring, unoriginal, horrible

I read the first chapter or so of this book on the internet and it sounded kind of good, so I bought it. The first part of the book i liked, but then the story just sounded as though the author kind of wrote it in a hurry, or something like that. Seriously, even the parts that were supposed to be "exciting" were boring and you knew that Alexander was going to save her in the end. I had to force myself to finish the book. Also, there isn't anything original about the vampires in this book. At least in Twilight or other vampire books, the vampires are SOMEWHAT original, but this book was a complete vampire stereotype. I would NOT recommend this book to anyone.

    Ummm, no.

I did not like this book at all. I forced myself through the first two books but i couldnt get through the 3rd. the characters where very over the top and unbeleivable. the plot was just ok. and i didnt like the relationship between raven and alexander. they immidiatly jump right into as if they new eachother forever. i think she could have taken more time to tell that part better. also, everything is sooooo predictable. none of it is orgignal. i do not recomend this book to anyone.

    I've read better

I like the characters themselves. But I think the story line is very childish and to quick in pace. They meet and poof! there in love. Not very realistic. It's not original in anyway. It's like the author watched every old fashion vampire movie and book and combined them in one. Nothing set this book apart from any other. Not impressed sorry.

    Not Worth Your Time

I really wanted to read a vampire story, without having a Twilight plot attack me. I wanted something different. This isn't what I wanted. Though the first book was well written and had an interesting plot, the story became dry in the second book. Useless information was put in dialouge and the suppose to be "OMG" moments were just plain stupid and frankly I didn't care about her stupid antics and freak-outs about her love life. I didn't "warm" up to Alexander and didn't feel sympathy when things got a little shaky between them. This book isn't worth your time, unless you like similar stories to Twilight. Otherwise, take this advice to use and don't waste your money or time on this book.

    wow

and i dont mean that in a good way. i read the reviews for this book series and they all said it was great so i decided to give it a try. boy did i waste my money. the writing is simplistic. nothing is edgy. its predictable. i almost didnt finish it at all. i definitely will not be reading the rest of the series. it was just like some "goth" girl complaining.
