With the Twilight phenomenon going on I am noticing many crazy Vampire Romance books on the shelves. I am a huge Vampire fan but it's been hard to find anything worth reading (Twilight series, J.R. Ward and Jeaniene Frost are some of the BEST). I saw this book by itself on a shelf, it was the only one in the store, and I was drawn to the cover. I opened it and started to read the first page to get a feel for the author and her style of writing and I realized that I could not stop reading the book, I had to have it.

It was a GREAT vampire romance book. It's a fast read and the characters are to die for - literally. I just received the second book in this series and cannot wait for Lynda Hilburn to write more.

If you love Edward, the Brothers and/or Bones, you will want to meet Devereaux, he is HOT!"

Meh, it was ok.

It was ok. The female character in the book was well written, but her love interest falls short of a developed character. I also felt like the characters kind of ran in a circle of stupidity. How many times do you need to be attacked in your own home by something or ...

How many times do you need to be attacked in your own home by something or another that goes bump in the night before you realize "Hey, maybe I need to stick a little bit closer to my all-powerful-supposed-to-be-protecting-me vampire boyfriend." I don't know . . . just a thought. :)

    an ok read.

I was a bit apprehensive when I started this book because I have tried to read a couple other books that had a psychiatrist and supernaturals and they did not jive with me, but this one was actually pretty good. Some parts were quite predictable, like Kismet falling for a vampire even though she did not believe in them; while others were not, like the magic aspect of the story.

I did have a bit of a problem with how quickly Kismet and Devereux fell in love with each other and how she just allowed Devereux to tell her what to do having only known him a couple days. I also felt like I was cheated when it came to her “relationship” with Alan. It just seemed like the author wanted a good sex scene and Alan was the character available. It is almost like he is mentioned in passing because there is this high between Kismet and Alan but them it just ends and the slight conclusion you get seems like an afterthought.

The plot was interesting and kept me intrigued but the writing seemed lacking and in need of some work, even though this is a rewrite of an older book with additional plot added. I will probably read the next book in the series when it comes out because the story had me hooked, but this book is not at the top of my list of vampire books. This is not due to the overall plot but rather more to the confusion in the story and the lack of continuity in the writing. Some things just do not seem to connect and felt as though they were just added later to close up loose ends.

This book is not appropriate for kids or teenagers because there are sex scenes in it that are graphic. For adults, this is a quick read and the plot is pretty entertaining and worth a look if you like to read a lot. If you read slowly or do not have much time to read, I would pass on this book and look for something a bit more polished.

I received this book as an ARC. I do not get paid to review books; I do so in order to assist you in recognizing books that you might enjoy.

    I Also Recommend:

    NOT WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED

This book & characters have so much potential that it is a shame they went to waste. The book is written in the first person which I really enjoyed, but the content lacked. This is NOT a Romance Book!Yes there is a couple of hot scenes but those are more of side stories. 90% of the book is about what the Kismet (the Doctor)is doing all day. There was NOT really any build up to the tri romance in the book. The Vampire is HOT,HOT,HOT! But Kismet can't figure out if she is in love with him even though he declares being in love with her. DeeDeeDee!!A really hot guy who owns half of the world, that is intellegent, imortal and has "bed time skills"...Yeah Kismet needs a Shrink of her own. Second love interest is Alan who has been following the Vampire culture "Mulder style" in the FBI.Then there is Tom the Ex boyfriend that pops into the scene and last but not least, a chiropractor that she called a date; She needed a Pelvic adjustment/lube since it had been a couple of years and decided all-of-a sudden that now seemed like a good time.
Final word-I will not read this book again, nor will I recommend it to friends or family. I didn't hate it,but I'm not in love either. The very last page of the book sums up the whole book -"I cant be in love-lust-with two men,can I? I don't know.Stranger things have happened."
In the mean time she is moving into the vampire's building...Hey is that a hooker?
