Melissa De La Cruz's fourth book in the blood blue series is her best book yet. The pace and plot are rich and driven, leaving the reader with a focused, engaging story. Schuyler Van Alen is on the run from the New York coven, blamed for the murder of her grandfather, Lawrence. Her conduit, and best friend, Oliver Hazard-Perry is with her as she tries to seek the aid and protection of the European coven, all the while trying to discover more about The Van Alen Legacy. Meanwhile, Mimi and Kingsley, part of the Venator team, are back in Rio trying to find Bliss' younger sister Jordan, who was revealed at the Watcher, Sophia. Bliss is trying to deal with and overcome being a silver blood, and harboring Lucifer himself inside of her. Super charged with secrets, backstories, revelations, and a less than ordinary bonding ceremony, The Van Alen Legacy promises to satisfy readers while leaving them begging for more.

It was ok

    Seriously?!

I've never been that thrilled about this series, when I started Blue Bloods I thought it was okay so I read the other ones because I wanted to know what was going to happen. Those ones were way better than this one could ever be. I got so bored! After I got about 50 pages into it, I nearly fell asleep! Finally I just decided that I was going to skim and read what looked good. I really like Jack, so anytime he was in there I would read that part and skip the rest. I know I missed a ton of stuff that might have been really vital to the story, but I really didn't care. The only parts that I like about this book were when Jack was there, and kind of near the end, too. I liked how this one ended (mostly), and I wish that was the way the whole series was wrapped up so that I could finally know the ending and not have to worry about any more books! But of course there has to be more. For the rest I'm not even going to bother reading them, I'm just going to look up spoilers because this book was definitely a disappointment from the first three. If you want to read this series I recommend only reading the first three, or don't read them at all.

    Frustrated!

Ok, I read all three books before this one and loved them! I just can't get into this one. I am SO frustrated because I really want to like it but can't! I made it through the first three chapters Skye's is good as well as Mimi's but after that is total confusion. Please tell me it gets better I just can't make myself read it. I am not saying its a bad book but I just can't get into it. I am so invested in the series but this one is just not doing it for me. Sorry.

The series is kinda going downhill.

I thought the first two books were really good. I really enjoyed reading those. I couldn't stand that last one. I have a feeling that they are just going to get worse and that The Van Alen Legacy will be a waste of time. I didn't think that Jack was all that. I thought that Ollie was so much better but she totally left him in the dark. And that whole thing with Lawrence (thats the name of her gradnfather, right?) was totally uncalled for. Oh well. There are much better books that you can read.

Although i do give it kudos for the cover art... Those are good. Mostly because I don't think that Melissa De La Cruz had too much to do with it.
