Melissa De La Cruz's fourth book in the blood blue series is her best book yet. The pace and plot are rich and driven, leaving the reader with a focused, engaging story. Schuyler Van Alen is on the run from the New York coven, blamed for the murder of her grandfather, Lawrence. Her conduit, and best friend, Oliver Hazard-Perry is with her as she tries to seek the aid and protection of the European coven, all the while trying to discover more about The Van Alen Legacy. Meanwhile, Mimi and Kingsley, part of the Venator team, are back in Rio trying to find Bliss' younger sister Jordan, who was revealed at the Watcher, Sophia. Bliss is trying to deal with and overcome being a silver blood, and harboring Lucifer himself inside of her. Super charged with secrets, backstories, revelations, and a less than ordinary bonding ceremony, The Van Alen Legacy promises to satisfy readers while leaving them begging for more.

It was ok

    Always Switching it Up

I love how De La Cruz doesn't give you the same book twice, she mixes it up while staying true to the story. This series is unbelievably addiciting.

    More suspenseful with every book

The fourth book in de la Cruz's blue blood series begins the adventures of the previous book for Schuyler and answers questions about other characters. The ending definitely sets the pace for the next book and readers will be on edge to find answers. Alliances are being tested, re-shaped and sometimes completely severed. As with the other books in this series, the reader truly needs to start with the first book and work forward.

    The Van Alen Legacy

Schuyler has been on the run since the from her own people, the Blue Bloods of New York, ever since the fateful day the Silver Bloods were fully revealed (end of book 3). She seeks refuge with a group of Blue Bloods from Paris, only to witness their almost destruction as the Silver Bloods and the demon that was accidently released wreak havoc on their annual ball.

She returns to New York to live in secrecy from her friends and try to find the secret her family has hidden for years. With the help of her human conduit, smuggling books out of the archives, she stumbles upon what her true mission should be. While one mystery begins to be solved, many more unravel around her as dark secrets are revealed, and the romance between her and Jack resurfaces.

A good series that I have enjoyed so far. The characters all change very dramatically in this book. It seems to be a major turning point in the overall story. It got a little soap opera-ish with some of the back and forth hidden lives and secrets. At times it almost made it a little hard to follow what everyone was really doing.

    3.5/5

    I Also Recommend:

    over all ok...

this book was long awaited for me and for the most part it was everything i wanted and expected. i love all of the characters and how they act. in a way these books are kind of like gossip girl but with vampires. lots of scandalous actions make it very interesting and very absorbing. one thing i didnt like was that each character only got about two and a half to three pages at a time which made it go by slower for me and made it dizzying to transition from one to the other. i would have liked to see a little more romance with schylur and jack but ( spoiler!!!) in the end they were together. i love these books and recommend them to anyone who loves vampires as much ( and thats alot!) as i do. they are different from twilight and vampire diaries but still amazing books and even though i had some problems with how it was written i still love the author and can wait for the next one to hit the shelves.
