    Recommended Read

If you want a funny real romance. This would be your choice. The characters display a lot of the same behavior we would if placed in the same situations. I enjoyed it in paperback and now I get to enjoy it on my nook.

A somewhat disappointing finish to a great series

But read it anyway - Miles is fascinating! If you've read any, or all, of the 'Velvet' series and want to know about baby brother Miles, you'll need to read this. The first 2/3 of the book rates 5 stars, the last portion falls flat. As for the good part - we finally get to know Miles, who's been a bit of an enigma for the first three books. He's actually very young (about 20) but complex. My impression of him in the earlier books was of a smooth womanizer, with little else to recommend him. Womanizer - yes - but Elizabeth tames him nicely in the end, and he does have other character strengths. He's not a bad guy, in many ways he's nicer to Elizabeth than the others have been initially to their eventual wives. Elizabeth is not a simpering whiner, she's feisty and has a wonderfully soft heart for someone who has every reason not to. Of course, the love story is just as passionate as you'd expect and the first part of the book features strong writing. Things just derail at the end. I don't object to how she wraps the saga up - I won't give it all away, but the women save the day - she just needed to take about 100 more pages to execute such a complex plot. In the process, we lose Miles' strong personality. And the whole thing with Elizabeth's brother is too, too bizarre. I actually welcomed a way to redeem Roger Chatsworth, but this subplot was actually kind of creepy. The author does give us a cute epilogue that lets us know how everyone turns out (happily ever after, of course!) Ultimately, read this to wrap the series up, but it's not as strong as the others.

I love this series. I did not like how Miles had temper tantrum

I love this series. I did not like how Miles had temper tantrums like a spoiled brat when things did not go his way. Otherwise I loved his character even with the illegitimate children (little to no forms of contraceptive and at least he took care of them). I also loved how he helped Elizabeth be more comfortable around men, since she finally found some that she could trust. I don't like Roger and I didn't like how he stumbled upon his love interest and the trouble they all go through to save her. In the epilogue, I did like how we informed about how everyone ended up. However, as a side note, I noticed that Jude Deveraux put that she was working on a story about decendants of Miles and Judith getting together. I have yet to find the book, so if it has been written and anyone knows which it is, I would love to know because I love the Montgomery/Taggert families.

    Interesting

I was so excited to read this book after I read the first chapter. I love how Elizabeth fights Miles all the way until she gives in. I was disappointed in the end of the book. The plot with Roger and the girl was stupid. I liked that the author wrapped things up nicely and they lived happily ever after.
