Love it!
If you have never read a mystery, these are the books for you. I never liked mystery, but these books are whimsical and easy to read.

Spoiler at End
The book was a pleasant enough mystery. But do not read the excerpt which follows. It is for book 17 and contains what was a disappointing spoiler for me.

The main character is humorous and just complicated and interesting enough to be considered as someone you would like to count among one's friends.
An earthy combination of characters, who seem to fit in with the setting of this series. The books in this series are light enough to be relaxed reading, and just complicated enough to make the reader want to continue.
Most of the characters are believable and the writer puts just enough mystery
into the newly introduced persona of each to complicate an easy solution.
I like each of the series that I have purchased and read. This one was es-
pecially delightful with a good plot devised, characters with with enough diverse personalties to make one wonder " who is responsible"...Good reading with a glass of wine of course.1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

Love this mystery series!
I've read a few of the Agatha Raisin mysteries and love them. This one is one of the better ones, even though the storyline was familiar to AGATHA RAISIN AND THE WIZARD OF WICKHAM, I still enjoyed it. These cozy British mysteries are a fast and enjoyable read. Highly recommened!

AN ENJOYABLE MYSTERY!!!
I like M C Beaton's books, either the Agatha Raisin or Hamish Macbeth series. She writes so I can just feel like I am in the village of Carsely. I like the townspeople and the local shops and restaurants. Agatha Raisin is a busybody but a funny busybody. The new Vet in town is dead, but is it an accident or murder? The police say accident but Agatha and her neighbor James Lacey think murder. They start asking questions and get in trouble with other people in the villege as welll as the police. The Vet had talked several women into giving him money, supposedly to build a new clinic and then he would name the clinic after them. The clinic was never started and some wanted their money back but the Vet refused. Could the murderer be, Mrs. Parr, Mrs. Mason, Freda, Miss Webster, Miss Simms or maybe, just maybe, someone else. The ending is very good with Agatha getting a good scare. A light mystery that is not full of gore and horror. I enjoy this series very much.

so so
i didn't care much for this book. the story is a little unbelievable and the characters have no charm. the plot is different, but in agatha raisin style, lots of bungling.
