    Great Beach Read.

The first installment of the View Park Series was so action packed that it almost feels unnecessary to have subsequent stories. It is quite incestuous at times and leaves a little to be desired in the way of characterizing the inner world of 'black royals' in LA or anywhere for that matter. Other than dropping names of high end designers and Ivy League schools, there really was no indication that Winters really has experience or knowledge of the inner workings of the Black Upper Class. All of the police related incidents was overkill. Some of the characters were easy to empathize with but others were annoying and overdone. The story was well organized and therefore made it easy to read quickly over a weekend. It was entertaining, but not really believable.

    Welcome To View Park

In this captivating new family saga, Angela Winters invites you into the scandalous, glamorous, intriguing world of one of the country's wealthiest and most powerful African-American families... Steven Chase is the head of one of the wealthiest African-American families in the country and the most scandalous. In Los Angeles, he has built a cosmetics empire from nothing. With a perfect society wife at his side, he continues to conquer and push Chase Beauty higher while his sons and daughters fight outside forces, and each other, to hold on to their wealth and position and acquire everything they desire! A family at the top has the farthest to fall... Los Angeles-based cosmetics tycoon Steven Chase has come a long way from his humble beginnings. Chase Beauty is a Fortune 500 company, and Steven's family, including socialite wife, Janet, and four grown children, live a life of privilege in exclusive View Park. But when Steven wants to expand his empire by adding a chain of hair salons, one woman stands in his way... Twenty-six-year-old Avery Jackson is the owner of two businesses that Chase wants to buy out. But the independent young woman has no intention of selling. Once Steven realizes he can't seduce her with money, he tries a different approach: his handsome attorney son, Carter... Carter Chase's decision to start his own law firm instead of joining Chase Beauty created a deep rift with his father. Persuading Ms. Jackson to sell would be a chance to appease Steven. But Carter soon realizes he's met his match in Avery--and even as the two battle over business, they're also fighting a mutual attraction. Meanwhile, spoiled debutante Haley Chase is busy getting into high-profile trouble. While on her married lover's yacht, Haley witnesses a murder--which leads to an encounter with Sean Jackson, L.A.'s youngest, toughest detective. Haley at first considers messing with Sean a fun game, until it becomes clear that this time, she won't be the one making--or breaking--the rules. After a year in Africa with the Peace Corps, pediatrician Leigh Chase is determined to start a free clinic--an idea that horrifies her parents. Hoping to distract her from the venture, Janet promises to provide funding...if Leigh dates a certain young investment banker. But mother doesn't always know best, and Janet's manipulating proves to be a dangerous mistake... While trouble brews among his siblings, twenty-eight-year-old Michael Chase enjoys wielding his power as VP of Finance at Chase Beauty. Fiercely competitive, Michael does Daddy's dirty work--and always comes out clean. His only soft spot is for his wife, Kimberly, a former fashion model. But Kimberly has her own ambitions--plans that may one day shake the very foundations of the Chase dynasty--and change their view from the top forever...

    Captivating

I couldn't put it down! I was up 'til the wee hours of the morning reading it! Can't wait for more from the Chase and Jackson Families! My favorite characters were Leigh she seemed to be the most down to earth of the Chase clan and I enjoyed the romance between Richard and her, Avery and Carter, even though he went about getting her all wrong, I believe Avery and Carter were destined to be together, but not sure how it will turn out for them, when what he did comes out and I believe it will come out. In the beginning I really liked Sean, too, he was displined, ethical and I just didn't think he would bend that easily to Haley, and I lost all respect for his character when he didn't stand his ground with Haley. Didn't care for Haley at all, talk about a spoiled brat! Michael was interesting he truly wants to be his father, not sure how I feel about Kimberly, just yet. I enjoyed the fact that despite everything going on Steven and Janet seemed to have a real love for one another. Steven was all about business and Janet was all about family, probably why they worked so well together.
