I almost put this boook down halfway through, but hoped it would

I almost put this boook down halfway through, but hoped it would get better. The end was sort of a surprise, but I think a little more complicated than it had to be. The thing that bothered me throughout the story was all of the characters to keep straight. There was Rex and Nathan and Abby and Mitch and Tom and Quentin and Patrick and Sarah and Jeff and Mr. and Mrs. this and that and Catie and assorted friends that often got only one mention...none of the people were very memorable or colorful and so I couldn't even put a face to them. The story just went on and on and seemed very pointless at times.

    somewhat disappointing

Not as great as The Scent of Rain and Lightning- I am happy I read that novel first, since I might be hesitant after reading this. Characters were not as well developed. Some of the plot was unnecessary.

    Not good, predictable

I am a huge fan of Nancy's Jenny Cain mysteries, but I really missed something here. This book had thin characters, a plot I felt was unoriginal, and a predictable 'mystery' at its core. So sad to write this about one of my favorite mystery writers, but I really thought this was a dull book that felt like it was written quickly and with little care for character development or realistic content.
