Beautiful and Dignified
Johnson's Voice of Beauty shines light on the hardship and struggles of African women and yet champions the women's amazing strength and dignity. As a fellow daughter of Eve, I am honored to call the women of Voice of Beauty my sisters and I salute Johnson's desire to tell their stories well.

Incredibly Moving, Powerful Work
Wow! I was impressed by Johnson's last book, Voices of Sudan, which seemed to capture the essence of the struggle in Sudan. His new book, Voice of Beauty, goes even further by capturing the soul of a people. Any man, woman, or child would do well to pore over this thought provoking and powerful book.

I have read David Johnson's "Voice of Beauty", and find the descriptions, and photographs to have a much emotional impact on me as did his "Voices of Sudan".

The dramas of life, as seen in the faces of the women and children, have been so tastefully, and emotionally depicted.
It is so sad that we can't do more.
David Johnson is a true disciple in this ministry. -

voice of beauty
I just purchased two copies of voice of beauty. What a book of beauty. The pictures and commentary are wonderful for the beholder. I have encouraged others to purchase it. Now being aware of voices of sudan, I plan to purchase a copy. I look forward to future work by David Johnson.

Inspirational work of talent!
When I read through Voices of Beauty, I couldn't help but be inspired to go out and help as much as I could to raise awareness, thanks to David and his book. His talent to photograph such realistic and emotional pictures puts me in awe every time I look at his work. Voices of Sudan had the same kind of effect on me, but to read about the women and girls in Africa and the obstacles they're put through, makes me appreciate all of what David and Silent Images does for them even more. The breathtaking photos and writings, portrays how beautiful these women and girls stay inside and out throughout all of their pain they might be put through. Because of reading this, and seeing the photographs, I have deep admiration for the courage and strength these women have.

It is through this book, Voice of Beauty, That I am able to experience, and feel the emotion of what is happening across the world. My own fears, budgets, and circumstances prevent me from being able to do what he does, and I am grateful for being able to spend less than $20 to be a part of the journey he has spent years on.

Stirring
The Voice of Beauty is a work that will stir, challenge and encourage you as the strength of the women David Johnson has captured pierces your heart. I've traveled to Africa and David's images are what you see on every street. His picture taking is more then a documentation of the plight of the women of Africa, it's an invitation to observe the tension between suffering and courage and then to respond.

David doesn't complicate the images with too much verbiage but gives us just enough to keep us on the page and consider what we are looking at. -
David Johnson continues to be a voice for the voiceless.
David Johnson has done it again. His follow-up to Voices of Sudan, Voice of Beauty admonishes the reader to remember the plight of women in Africa. Despite social oppression and abuse, these women display an inner strength and beauty that goes beyond the exterior that Western society so often focuses upon.

With his photography, David has once again captured the essence of these women. We see them as they work in the fields, as they take care of their children, as they worship and even as they play. We see their joy, their sorrow, their pain and their hope. And once you've seen their faces, you will never forget them. You will be forever changed.
Just as importantly, David walks his talk. He asks us to get involved to help those who are less fortunate. His first book, Voices of Sudan, helped raise more than $50,000 for the Sudanese. 100% of the profits from Voice of Beauty will go to help women in Africa. Many will be educated. Many will start businesses with small loans. Many will have the opportunity to get out of the cycle of poverty and subjugation in which they find themselves.
This book will do more than the average book. It will cause you to stop and think, to ponder the meaning of life. It will cause you to step out in faith, to let go of the mundane, and to realize that each of us has the opportunity and the obligation to help others. Beyond that, however, it gives us the means to do so.
I highly recommend it for your own personal library and suggest that it would make a wonderful gift for others as well. -

Beauty and Strength Forged Through Trials
After reading David's first book, "Voices of Sudan," I was touched, challenged and encouraged beyond measure. The strength of the Sudanese people that has been forged through hardship was enlightening to me. In the same way, "Voices of Beauty" shows the fierce and wonderful beauty of the African woman that come through trials, hardship and many joys. It's refreshing to see pop-culture gently set aside and the richness of Africa shine through this new book.
