    Beautiful and informative

I've enjoyed "Volcanoes." The photography is excellent and the text is very good and informative. I was surprised by seeing relatively little or no coverage of some especially noteworthy volcanoes like Mt. Shasta, Mt. Ranier and Mt. Hood.

    I Also Recommend:

    Volcanoes

This is really more of a coffee table book than a text or learning media. For someone with little knowledge of volcanoes, it may spark a deeper interest. Some of the photos are blurry and out of focus, which I can understand. Very good general knowledge.

    Incredible photography!

I gave this book to my daughter for Christmas. She is completing her PhD in volcano research. The photos are terrific and the information was very detailed and interesting. We had a great time looking at the different places she has worked at. It is a treat for both someone in the field and her parent.

A must-have coffee table book particularly if you like the earth

This is nice, affordable publication from well-known French volcanologists. I saw this at Borders & when I saw the price I could not believe it. The photos are stunning. This book gets more into the history, mythology, & lore of volcanoes. It's not so much a text book. The layout is excellent.

    Art and science converge

We saw these photographs displayed in Paris just after 9/11/01. They left a permanent image in my mind of the overwhelming beauty and greatness of the earth and the irreplaceable connection of human culture to that earth.
