    Be an informed Catholic

So many Catholics are oblivious to the powers that are lurking under the guise of Orthodoxy and piety in our country today. The Legion of Christ is one of them. Marcial Maciel Degollado has been definatively shown for what he is in this excellent piece of investigative journalism. It is a work that has been in progress for several years. Its sources span several countries. The documentation is impressive. This is not a book filled with calumnies and attacks against the Church. It is, instead, a plea for Catholics to be informed about what has gone on in the Church and a plea for hierarchy and laity to do something about it. So please be an informed Catholic. If you have had some experience with the Legion of Christ and the Regnum Christi, do not be afraid to read this book. If you have not, then please be informed in case someone you love falls prey.

    Telling the Truth

As a supporter of clerical sex abuse victims I believed I'd heard the worst of the horror. Not so. Jason Berry and Gerald Renner bring us directly into the slimy underbelly of the church hierarchy. 'Vows of Silence' gives me more insight and understanding of the mob-like thinking behind the priestly garb. Knowing that men like Berry & Renner won't stop digging until the church accepts responsibility helps me to sleep at night. Anyone interested in helping survivors to get accountability from the Bishops should read 'Vows of Silence'.

Read this to get the 'rumors' everyone believes

This book is hardly worth reading. The title itself and publisher info that states 'Vows of Silence is not a book about sexual abuse it is a book about abuse of power, throughout the Vatican' which is a lie. This book is all about the sexual abuse. The RUMORS are all here. Including here-say and all the lies that are created about the Catholic Church. I applaud the effort to collect all the useless rumors and ridiculous facts that surround the most talked about religion on the planet.

    An Unfortunate Display of Disdain

When writing a book from a reporters' viewpoint, it is easy to color a book or article in a way that is for or against a group or institution. Unfortunately this book excells in erant information that was obviously researched with the GOAL in mind of hunting down lies and liars. Many priests have been accused and recused of pedophile in the last 5 years, and it is dispicable how Fr. Maciel is judged by these authors to be guilty. This and other unfair and simply untrue ideas are constantly put forth throughout the book. A very poor display of 'reporting'.
