Well researched and well lived!
I've read a lot of books on Islam from many perspectives. A lot of books flooding the market in the last couple years were by people who did some 'research', and some even went and talked to Muslims. But this lady married into the family and has raised her own children in the community. Yes, she's talked to 'radicals' and 'moderates'. There's no axe to grind in this book, no 'preaching', no hidden agenda, only the real love of a real God for real people who have their own real pain. Francis of Asisi is the one who said, 'Preach the Good News at all times, when necessary use words'. She tells the fascinating account of Francis' own attempt to 'wage peace' by proclaiming the message of the Prince of Peace to both sides. He is the one who said, 'Put away your swords, he who lives by the sword dies by the sword.' This is not a treatise on the core doctrines of Islam; it is an exposition of the heart of men and women who struggle to feed and provide for their children. Whatever your religious inclination, if you are part of the human race, this book will move you. It did me.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
