A must-have for those new to H.P. Lovecraft
For those who just entering the strage and fascinating world of H.P. Lovecraft, this is a book that combinds some of his best works brought together. These include THE SHADOW OVER INNSMOUTH, a tale of a New England town mysteriously turned into aqautic creatures by the power of an undersea god, Dagon. This title was the basis for the 2001 cult film, DAGON. There is also the short story of THE TEMPLE, the story of a german u-boat captain that discovers the city of atlantis in a way that no man should. Without doubt, this book holds the best stories in it's 2 covers. The only complaint is for the lack of the story, THE CALL OF THE CHUTHULU. Look for this in other books, for it sets the basis for CHUTHULU, a character that is in many of his books.

HP Lovecraft is often considered one of the greatest horror writers of all time and an example to all the writers that follow him, but he can also describe exquisite beauty. This book contains three long stories: The Shadow over Innsmouth, Herbert West Reanimator, and the Case of Charles Dexter Ward, and several shorter stories, including Cool Air, The Hound, The Temple, The Moon-Bog, The Lurking Fear, The White Ship and The Terrible Old Man. All of those are superb stories and definitely worth reading. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

The Best of Lovecraft
This is without a doubt the best collection of H.P. Lovecraft's work. It is hard to believe that he died convinced that his life had been a failure. Excellent book, I recommend it to anybody who likes horror, and even to people who are into real scientific things. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
