NOT sci-fi!

The story was ok. No sci-fi till the last page and not much point. More a short story or memoir. Sort of interesting but I wasn,t expecting a history lesson.

Best thing about the book is the title

Honestly, I tried...because I have been to Wakulla Springs and was delighted to see a book with this title! It was slow going at first--and the pace ground to a halt or else picked up later in the book and by that time I'd already stopped reading. Little character development, lack of literary devices or even clever dialogue. I never discerned the authors purpose for writing this book because the narrative didn't sustain my interest.

    Painful

Painful at the beginning. Half way through it improves. Once you get a few chapters in and realize each chapter is the next generation from the prior chapter chars, curiosity motivates.

I became engaged with this story, and then it switched to differ

I became engaged with this story, and then it switched to different characters. The first characters basically disappeared. Later characters did seem to carry through, but transitions were abrupt.

I did not notice editorial mistakes.

I liked the story, but believe it could have been better told. I don't recommend this book. There is no cohesion, and the hook of what lies beneath the surface of the springs does not really play into the story at all.
