    Long Live the King!

The recordings of Elvis Presley in the 70's seem to be the least appreciated among his body of work. The decade saw Elvis continue to resurrect his career, while at the same time, saw his self-destruction away from the stage and recording studio. This box marvelously presents all of Elvis' singles in the 1970s, plus his best LP & live tracks, as well as the usual rarities RCA seems to "discover". Ballads such as "Always On My Mind", "Separate Ways", & "For Ol' Times Sake" reflect the personal turmoil he went through, while "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" & the classic "Burning Love" prove Elvis could rock when he wanted to. Nonetheless, the passion demonstrated by Presley in these recordings cannot be argued. The box also contains an essay from noted biographer Peter Guralnick & a complete recording history of Elvis in the decade. The box, though expensive, is a must for the hardcore Elvis fan. Casual listeners should purchase a slimmed down greatest hits package instead of this 5 disc box. Overall, an excellent product from RCA reflecting the most underrated period of Elvis' career.

    Huge California Elvis Fan!!!!

For anyone that loves Elvis, The Essential 70's Masters set is definitely worth having! The collection clearly displays Elvis' wonderful abilities as a singer and a performer through songs like ''My Boy'' and ''Hurt'' where you can almost feel his pain to songs like ''Walk a Mile in My Shoes'' and ''Suspicious Minds'' that gives you a sense of his charisma on and off of the stage. Walk a Mile in My Shoes speaks for itself in terms of how many great hits that are on the this collection, especially the songs from his Las Vegas shows where you can hear the energy of the audience reflecting off Elvis' performance. I absolutely recommend this box set to anyone and everyone because I guarantee that you will listen to it continuously!
