    Wonderful Work

This book is very well written, it provokes a different lense for viewing what may have been U2's thoughts while making some of the best music of all time. A Christian lense.

I MISSED THE JOKE I GET IT NOW!

I've been an avid u2 fan since I found my brother's copy of BOY. There is not a teenage memory without a U2 song attached to it. U2, THE ALARM,MIDNIGHT OIL,SIMPLE MINDS, all these groups actually led me to the saving GRACE of JESUS CHRIST. But here and now I must make a confession in front of the whole world. I wrote the band off in the 90's. I was one of the narrowed minded who thought the band had 'left the kingdom through the back door.' I didn't get the joke, I didn't get the irony and sarcasm of the ZOOROPA tour or the POP tour for that matter. This book opened up my eyes and ears to songs that now actually speak to my heart and spirit. I never heard the line ..'the SPIRIT moves in mysterious ways..' in the song of the same name because I was too busy being judgemental. This book had me scrambling through u2 lyrics and seeing lines i had completely overlooked. Maybe I couldn't see them because of the forrest in my eye. Even though I still find Bono to be a genius and a fool(all in the same interview!) this book showed how much a man of God he really is, and I look forward to long conversations with him in the Kingdom. Please read this book if you to (was that to cheasy?) wrote the band off, they with PETER GABRIEL and JOHNNY CASH are the best spiritual musicians out there.

Very philosophical, but not a must-have for a U2 collection...

I definitely enjoyed reading the book, but it is more written by someone in response to U2 and how U2's music relates to the author's philosophy...not something written WITH U2. Just a warning for those fellow rabid U2 collectors out there.

    For true U2ers

Having grown up listening to a little bit of U2 I was able to relate to the book. Being too young to really remember their tours such as ZooTV, this book does a great job of describing their events. It also does a very good job of analyzing the spiritual nature of U2s songs. My only complaint is that the author never actually interviewed Bono or any members of U2. He says at the beginning that U2 had stopped speaking to the Christian press many years ago, therefore his only source of information is from other biographies and magazine articles. Other than that, the depth that he goes into the lyrics is incrediable, and helps transforms every single U2 song into a spiritual journey.

    Intreguing and Insightful

Very cool book! Not sure how accurate it all is- though it seems to be consistant with the bands image and song writing. As a Christian, it was refreshing and encouraging, to read about men in the non-Christian subculture living out the commision of Christ- 'Be the light of the world .' It's inspiring to see evidence of believers lives lived out amongst non-believers and still to have so much influence and respect. These are guys who have no problem being honest with God, themselves and the public. Theme: Grace!

    Well-written Exploration of the subject

I was very happy with this book. It's well worth the money! Although the author misses obvious other lyrical references (making them spiritual instead), it makes both Christians and non-Christians THINK. That's rare.
