I will begin by saying I love Catherine Anderson’s novels, they are my go to books when I need a romance fix! That being said for some reason this book for me was hard to get into. Usually I pick the book up and cannot put it down, this one I would pick-up and come back later and read. While I still enjoyed the book it was not one of my favorites of this author. I will read more of her books in the future. My favorite is and I think will always be Annie’s Song.

An enjoyable holiday story. The characters are well written and leave you wanting the story to keep going. The author ties everyone together very well by the end of the book. I can't say I was a fan of the angel chapter overall. When I pick up a historical western romance I don't expect time travel but that is just my preference. Interested to see what direction this series takes.

Fans of Catherine Anderson's old west novels will enjoy this introduction to the Gabriel Valance family. Anderson has incorporated a new twist into the plot that took me by surprise, and may surprise some of her followers as well. As with many of her previous series, Anderson manages to weave her religious beliefs with some pretty steamy romance into the story. Valance, of course, is a handsome character with a good heart, but circumstances has led him astray. And of course, the love of a good woman sets him on the right path. Opening his heart becomes transformative for Valance in a number of ways. Nan, the female protagonist, bears a heavy burden from her past that Valance plays a pivotal role in lifting from her shoulders. Their love not only redeems one another - it redeems and transforms several other characters in the story (who definitely are in need of help!).
It's an enjoyable read, but have to admit I would like to see Anderson develop a female character who isn't quite so stunning on the outside, but whose inner beauty attracts and wins over the male protagonist...

    I Also Recommend:

I love Catherine Andersoon books and make it a point to buy them

I love Catherine Andersoon books and make it a point to buy them every chance I get. I bought this one shortly after it came out. It wasn't my favorite of her books, that would be "Annies Song". It had a good enough plotline and the characters were very likeable, I care about what happened to them. However, I had a little trouble getting immediately into it. Catherine Anderson never disappoints me with her writing and this while not her best still was worth the time and I enjoyed many parts. I would always recommend her as an author to others, however I don't know it I would recommend this particular book.

I am going to start and say that this was an interesting read for me I absolutely love this Author but with that said the last two that she has put out I haven’t been 100% in love with I have them just because they are from her but that’s about it. This book was really had to get into at first and the middle I was finally getting into it then it just lost me…. It’s an ok book not the best not the worst.
