    A Different Point of View

'Warrior Woman,' based on the life of a real person, Nonhelema, is the story of a Shawnee female warrior and chief, and her efforts to find peace and understanding with the invading whiteman. The whites take advantage of her good intentions and trust to pursue their own ends. Betrayed by the whites, she finds herself alienated from her own people as a collaborator with the enemy. Although Nonhelema's efforts come to little in the end, she unknowingly wins the admiration and affection of an enemy soldier while fighting in battle as a warrior woman. That soldier went on to become a healer, and did his best to keep her memory alive-the memory of a courageous, compassionate woman who sacrificed so much to build bridges of understanding and save her people and a way of life. 'Warrior Woman,' a struggle seen from the female viewpoint, is a story well worth reading. A James Thom and Dark Rain Thom fan.
