We saw the article in Smithsonian magazine and ordered the book. This book is GREAT. We live about 5 hrs from DC and plan on using it to tour the area with our children. My husband and I love the way Buckley mixes history with humor. He makes the history fun and enjoyable for all ages. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Official Washington only
I really loved William Murray's guide to Rome (also part of the Crown Journeys Series), which featured stories about famous landmarks as well as lesser known treasures. Thinking this volume on DC would be in the same mold, I was disappointed to find that Buckley seems ignorant of the fact that there is a city beyond DC's monumental core. If you've never been to DC, you'd enjoy Buckley's humorous look at the big sites; if you know the city or live here, skip this one- it's not worth the time. Why not put on your walking shoes and do some exploring of your own?Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
