A Venice like you've never seen: full of mermaids, winged lions, and magic mirrors.

Venice, Italy is a magical place with palaces built on islands in a lagoon. Gondoliers guide their boats down canals, stone lions stare down from buildings and gold glistens underfoot in St. Mark's Cathedral. Kai Meyer takes Venice's magic to another level. In "The Water Mirror" Venice's lagoon is filled with mermaids, stone winged lions fly overhead, and mirrors are made with solidified enchanted water. Merle is a girl apprentice learning the art of making magic mirrors. Serafin is a boy apprentice learning to be a magic weaver. Together they face the Egyptian Empire that threatens to take over Venice. Merle and Seraphim must save the city, in this very unique and beautiful book.

Having been to Venice many times, and having always imagined the masses of modern tourists replaced by inhabitants of hundreds of years ago, I was immediately drawn in to Meyer's book. It took me to an enchanted Venice my imagination hadn't dreamed of, full of color and fantasy. I'll definitely be reading Dark Reflections #2.

This book is a very good book, which just proves that some of the best authors are from places other than the U.S.A.! I recommend this book for everyone who loves adventure and fantasy!

    hell is real

My mom and I both loved this book! The author does not talk down to kids, and deals with the harsher side of life in an appropriate way. The plot is beyond exciting and we cannot wait to read the next book in the trilogy.

    A Good Book

This book was intesting to read because it contained magic and had a fairy tale feel but was more of a Grimm fairy tale . Its dark side keeps you from getting bored and is mysterious ending makes you want to know more about the story of the two girls.
