    Be Afraid

As a corporate director I am very concerned about the direction our nation is heading particularly in the areas of trade deficits, loss of manufacturing, lack of immigration reform and our wrong-headed energy policies (using our corn for fuel; how stupid is this). But more than these concerns are the concerns for my family and the American way of life. I can live with an incompetent government to a degree, but now our very lives are at stake due to our lose of direction.

This book is a must read for everyone that believes our nation and our way of life is important. As the book so adeptly points out, we are on a slippery slope and help does not seem to be on the horizon. Neither Congress nor the executive branch offers any hope. Our current presidential candidates are under-whelming to say the least. Maybe if Palin and Biden were on top of the ticket I would feel better - probably not.

Please read this important book and pass along the information to others. The information is disturbing but very real and well researched. Just in case you're wondering, I vote Republican.

    Great read

Well written. Reads like a novel. I was impressed with the depth of investigation by the author.

    Just more of the same

What 'new' is actually covered here? To those who scream 'lies' and 'impeachment' are you also willing to include Bill Clinton, Teddy Kennedy, John Kerry, Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, et all, who ALL said that Hussein had WMD's and must be stopped before he used them If the president is to be impeached for alleged fabrication about WMD, then so should all during the Clinton administration who agreed. Only then will the 'tit for tat' be complete.

Responding to 'More of the Same'

The problem was that everyone bought into what the administration 'fed' them about the WMDs and their alleged existence. Yes, Clinton, Kerry, etc. all agreed that if Saddam possessed WMDs, he should be stopped. However, it was all lies fabricated to justify the war. This is not 'tit for tat' but rather serious grievances from an adminstration run amok. Suskind's narrative simply adds to the long list of infractions, lies, and misdeeds.

Tons of research, lack of application.

First and foremost, I believe the definition of WMD or 'Weapon of Mass Destruction' needs to be evaluated. A WMD IS NOT a nuclear bomb, it is simply anything used to create enhanced chaos and 'destruction' meant for buildings, cities, towns, soldiers, civilians, etc. This includes nuclear weapons, chemical weapons, nerve weapons, high-end explosives, etc. A SCUD missile IS a weapon of mass destruction. Saying the Bush administrators never found WMD's in Iraq is a misleading LIE. The population tends to oversee the power of the media on the unknowing civilian. If you read this book, make sure you have a fireplace nearby to use as a fire-starter for when you have a book actually worth reading.

    The 'Smoking Gun'

Brilliant, investigative reporting by Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Suskind. Along with Jane Mayer's equally outstanding 'The Dark Side', shows how the Bush Administration - Bush, Cheney, Powell, Rice, Bolton, Negroponte, and the gang fabricated arguments of WMD to sway the American public to support the Iraq War. Later justifying the War on the basis of the evil of Saddam Hussein. And all the while severely undermining America's reputation in the world by using torture, rendition, and an illegal system of justice to undermine the American Constitution. These criminal actions by the Bush Administration support the case for impeachment of the President and Vice President before they leave office. Congratulations to Suskind and Mayer!
