    I got this for my daughter when she was 4 yrs. old to help her understand how to deal with emotions. I looked through other books at my local B&N that covered the same topic, and chose this one. I like the way the author explains it in the book. In the book you will find simple words for children, explanations of how we like to be treated and what the good emotions feel like, how we should treat others the way we want to be treated, what bad emotions feel like, understanding that how we express bad emotions is a choice and what the bad choices might be (hitting, yelling, pushing) and what good alternatives might be (talking about your feelings, walking away, asking an adult for help), why we should get along, and colorful, interesting pictures. I wasn't sure how my daughter would like the book, but I liked the message conveyed. Turned out, she LOVED the book! She loved the pictures and she understood the message. She asked to read it over and over until she practically had it memorized. When she was 5 yrs. old she asked to take the book to school for story time so others in her class could hear it. To my surprise, at Christmas, she then asked to give a copy of the book to her class as a Christmas present so anytime they wanted to read it, it would be available. When we have behavior problems getting along with others and she can't remember what she's supposed to do, we pull out the book to read again to refresh her memory and help her think of other ideas. She has also requested this book be given to her cousin for a birthday present (the reason I'm on today buying the book and writing a review) as well as another good friend of hers for his birthday.

    Great for all kids

    I got this book because my daughter's teacher was not addressing certain 'behaviors' in her preschool class. It helped my daughter understand what she feels and how others feel too. I bought a copy to give to her teacher to use too!
