    Interesting book

I originally bought this book when our family drove up the coast to find fun places to stop at. Not only does it have interesting places to stop but it has quick facts and history on these places. I have since given this book as a gift to several people.

    Author Joe Oesterle is hilarious

Author Joe Oesterle is hilarious. He used to write for the National Lampoon. A couple of his stories are nothing short of genius. 'Tom Hanks Can't Lose' in N.L's Magazine Rack, and he co-wrote and illustrated a parody of that comic strip 'Love Is' with Mason Brown (another funny writer) and it's brilliant. Weird Ca is funny, cool, freaky, and I'm looking forward to Oesterle's next book, Weird Las Vegas

Who needs a tour guide when you have this book!

I just learned about the book through an article in the Sacramento Bee. It had been raining for weeks and I needed something to read that would cheer me up. Well, Eureka, I found it. I plan on visiting many of the places I read about. I love going for road trips and now I've definitely added some additional stops. Stories covers hilarious stuff, spooky places, scenic places, you name it, it's here. It's so California - beautiful and a bit weird. Thanks!

    Wonderfully Weird

No self-effacing Californian should be without this informative and twisted book resting firmly upon either their coffee table or their toilet bowl cover (for those who don't drink coffee). These intrepid writers make you want to hit the road and re-discover the Golden State ¿ warts and all.

Funny, amusing, a great coffee table book

Weird, interesting and some very funny stories here. I'm a native Californian, and while I've heard about some of the places the authors visited, many of these stories are completely new to me, and I fully intend to visit some of these places when I find myself in the area. I really related to the James Dean story. Very well written, and humorous. I live very near to the Fry's store, and always wondered why they decorated the store that way. Now I want to check out the other Fry's to see how they laid them out.
