Book much better than the movie

If you saw the movie and liked it then you should give this short novel a read. It is different than the movie in many parts. But, I liked the book so much better because of the descriptive words used. It was easier for me to imagine what everything was like due to the attention to detail. I read the paperback version and enjoyed it immensely.

    Different from the movie...

...in a great way! While the movie had some unforgettable imagery and moments, the plot and character differences make the two works akin to distant cousins rather than identical twins. Or perhaps fraternal twins. They're both stand-alone works w/ the book giving you a greater sense of the immense research performed to write the book.

    To See Where Genius Goes!

If one has seen the movie version, be prepared for a lot of difference. This story is definitely for the mind's eye. Mr. Matheson has gone into some philosophical areas that many may find difficult to put their minds around. These ideas though are things one should ponder regarding their spirituality.
This is a book to reread every now and then! As a person grows, their perceptions will change and so will the things they pick up on in this philo-story.

    keep an open mind ?

Perhaps an overwhelming issue for the soul that takes time for the tangible individual to comprehend, if this is the forecast for all of us post-death. The 'mind' is a tricky organ and with the right drug it can and does alter reality in any form or fasion. On the other hand, if this book is a taste of the other side,it is a gift from GOD.However, the movie with Robin Williams does not do the book any justice. In other words, the movie stinks.

    Perhaps

A vivid imagination of the souls' journey that expands all comprehension of what is'real'. A decisive blow to life after death and a wonder of truth in all its form. Is is real of an illusion that turns oneself on their thinking cap. Cogito ergo sum is no longer tangible if one indulges into this other world.

    Keep Your Tissue Box Near!

This book tells of life and after-life. It describes in detail what we have always known in our hearts: nothing can destroy true love, not even death. The movie of the same title does capture the essence, but not the whole story. If you are a romantic, if you wonder about what happens after we leave this mortal plane, then this is the book for you! Unless you are made of stone, plan on drowning out at least three tissues!
