To all those who "Don't care," just don't buy the book! To actually sit down and type exactly why YOU don't care is ludicrous! While I am not one who could see purchasing this book, who cares about your personal feelings of how she carries herself! We just ended years with a president who practically bankrupted the country with his war tactics, screwed up Hurricane Katrina relief handling of the victims, and let's not mention the invasion of Iraq and how his reasons were proven to be personally fueled. Let's not mention his ignorance and the fact that he probably couldn't spell "A, B, C" if he tried. But this was our president, Mr. Proud America himself. So now we have an African-American president and his wife in office, who has to clean up the garbage that the last started and they are condemned on all levels. "Lavish vacations?" Umm...correct me if I am wrong but ALL of the families have taken vacations. The Obama's happen to be in the spotlight for those who feed into the "How dare they" mode! "How dare the Obama's vacation!" Who cares about that?! Excessive staff? All presidents had this. I have not read one of these "reviews" that were totally accurate. She is the only first lady, probably with the exception of Mrs. Clinton who actually seemed to care about the children and who actually took the time to WRITE letters to those who write her (and not have her staff quote things that are not meant). She is on the front-line as much as her husband! That hardly seems "aloof" and self-absorbed.

I would rather read "reviews" from those who read the book and not those who have a PERSONAL, unwarranted vendetta against the woman...must be Bush lovers.

This book is not very good at all nor is it in the slightest bit a comprehensive biography. It is just the author's attempt at over-glorifying a woman who does not have the usual style or grace of the first ladies of the past. Yes, she is educated and got a good job. Yes, she also had a good idea about improving kids lunches (even though it did not help most of the country whatsoever.) But no, this book is not an accurate portrayal of the first lady at all. It's just the author's pitiful attempt to try and make her into a celebrity, which she very much is not. Her "modest" beginnings really were about the fact that she came from a middle class family. The majority of Americans come from less money than her family did and her mom stayed at home! Now, she is in the white house, not working at a real job, and she's not even raising her own kids. What exactly are we supposed to admire and worship?!
Then there is the whole race card thing. Why does it matter that she is black? Has she treated all Americans equally or has she (at least in her past) tended to steer herself and her family towards only other blacks? Shouldn't we all treat each other equally and stop bringing up race every time it is convenient? If we are all to be truly equal, then stop bringing up skin color and treat people according to who they are and what they can do rather than what they look like!!!
What should be said more often, is 'What Would Jesus Do?' (the original phrase) and certainly NOT 'what would Michelle do.' This book is just a big joke and I do not recommend it whatsoever unless you are strictly looking for a fluff piece about the first lady.

I have never paid attention to reviews because to me they are controlled by ones prejudicies. And except for the first review these people are soooo far out of touch and are obvious republicans using this as a political platform.
Get the true facts before you make dumb, stupid and incorrect statements.

I just ordered after reading a lot in bookstore.

To me, it looks like a FUN book for a female. And, yes, I do admire Michelle and the impression I got from reading a number of pages is that it was not derogatory; otherwise I would not have bought it. Basically I think the author took off on the ideal of Michelle and I do not find that a bad thing to do. I look forward to getting my copy and reading it in full.

What would Michelle Do? Though Michelle Obama has had many books

    What would Michelle Do?
Though Michelle Obama has had many books published about her over the past few years, this newly crafted book by journalist Allison Samuels What Would Michelle Do? succeeds by telling the story without the bias found in many of Michelle's "biographies". Furthermore, many political novels can be tedious reads, but Allison Samuel's manages to present the First Lady's life and success with a writing style that is witty, interesting, and above all memorable.

This is a book that women of all ages can enjoy, and one that answers many of the questions about how Michelle Obama manages to do EVERYTHING so well, with seemingly no difficult. Whether its discussing fashion, her family, or her busy work schedule, a reader gets the feeling that Michelle is a very relatable, funny, and enjoyable person. I would definitely recommend this book for any fans of Michelle who are interested in seeing her life through the eyes of a qualitative third party. Definitely worth picking up!

I saw this book in the bookstore and just ordered 2. One for me

I saw this book in the bookstore and just ordered 2. One for me and one for my goddaughter who is 21. From what I read in the store, it seemed like an inpirational book about living with grace and style and substance. Michelle Obama is a true American role model. Those of you ladies who felt the need to make negative comments about Michelle Obama and this book, with our even reading it! probably consider Chrissy from Love and Hip Hop a role model. It you don't like what someones saying just punch them out! Here's the point: That's not What Michelle Would DO!
