A Darn Good Read
Moses and the Israelites didn't cross the Red Sea? No, they didn't--they crossed the REED Sea, for that's what the Hebrew original says. This is just one of the many common misconceptions the author explains in a very non-academic way. Many of the misconceptions are like this one, errors in translation, but others are more serious accusations, such as the common belief that the Bible is anti-environment, or that the New Testament is anti-Semitic. There are 100 in all, and these short chapters are very readable. The author is obviously defending the Bible against its critics, but I think that even hardened skeptics might find some food for thought here.
