    Three medical clinics in Mexico

This book was a tremendous guide on our trip through southern Mexico. Our group conducted medical clinics for the residents of three villages in Guerrero, Mexico and this book was invaluable. It was easy to follow, yet comprehensive. Anyone who is traveling off the beaten path should find room for this resource.

    Life in the Dominican Republic

I have use this book extensively while traveling on medical missions trips to the Dominican Republic. There are several conditions that you see there that are not commonly seen in the United States. It has been a great tool to use while working out in the villages. It gives you clear explainations on many of the conditions that you see and need to treat. I have left my copy with the medical staff there for them to use as a resource and to lend to other missionaries when they come down. I highly recomend it for anyone traveling to third world countries.

So well-used it was falling apart...

My father sent this book to me when I lived in a small village in West Java. There were no doctors there, at least not the Western medical type. The book was very thorough, and helped me and dozens of others through many difficulties. The text is very clear, the illustrations very helpful, if sometimes silly(how one can portray a person vomiting or with the runs without having it look silly, i don't know). The book addresses just about any problem, large or small, that one might encounter, and explains exactly how to address it. It also gives good preventative advice, as well as a list of common drugs and what they are used for. Even if you aren't living in a remote village, this book is educational, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to take charge of their own health problems.

Very useful in my role as an "all-purpose doctor" as a missionary doctor and as a supervisor of nurses in remote places in Kenya, 1979 through 1982.

don t go on a mission to central america without it

I just returned from a medical-missionary mission to Honduras in remote villages it helped me so much. Taught me about some of their beliefs and helped prepare me for the culture. The treatments were consistent with a lot of medical training I had.
