I read it as part of our book club.  I loved it and hated it.  Corinne Hoffman must be a total whack job.  How could she fall in
fall in love with someone she could not even communicate with, live in a dung hut with his mother, and endure the
Rituals of the Masai?  For the thrill of the adventure?  And then get herself pregnant?  She obviously didn't have a plan.
I feel sorry for her daughter, let's just hope she doesn't decide to vacation next in Afghanistan.

I couldn't put this book down. It was great insight into a culture most people know nothing about. I can't wait to read the sequels!

    Worth reading!

When I first started reading this book I thought Corinne Hofmann was a real flake. Who goes to Africa with their boyfriend, falls in love with a local warrior and decides to STAY there with him! I was going to just put this book down and forget about it but I struggled on and all of a sudden I found myself caught up in her adventurous life! Great inside peek at day to day life in the African bush, the Masai tribe and corruption in government in Africa. A must read for anyone interested in adventurous women, African culture or rural African life. I was thrilled to learn there are two sequels to this book and have ordered both of them!

Very hard to put this book down!

I have always been interested in the Masai tribe in Africa and so found this book to be very enlightening. So many strange and exotic rituals and beliefs, such a different culture, and so well-written that I found myself totally ingrossed after page two.
