I was absolutely enthralled with this book. An amazing tale of the fae and a human girl that can see them.
Aislinn can see the fae, has been able to see them her entire life. Her grandmother who has raised her, has tried to teach her the rules that would keep her safe from them. But when two fae start following Ash, the drama gets intense.
This story is very well written,the struggle between winter and summer protrayed here as a battle of wills between the Summer King(Keenan) and the Winter Queen(Beira).
Throughout, Ash must face her fear of the fae, make hard choices, decide to entrust someone that she cares about with her secret, stand up for herself and what she feels is best for her life and accept her destiny!
I loved every bit of it, literally could not put it down. I was not disappoonted. I can't wait to read future works by this author.Show Less

I like to read fantasy for fun on the side and, after reading the description of this book, I thought it seemed right up my ally. After reading the first chapter I decided I would buy it at my next trip to the bookstore and I even found myself intrigued, thinking about how the story would play out for Aislinn in the time before I got to purchase it.
When I finally got the book I started reading right away. I wasn't finding myself getting really into the book or attatched to the characters. I decided to read on, figuring maybe I just wasn't used to this series, and as sometimes happens, I just needed to warm up and get used to the book.
Unfortunately, that never really happened. The story itself has potential, some of the characters are interesting (though they could definitely be developed more)...so I guess I have to chalk it up to Marr's style of writing, or lackthereof? It never pulled me in.
I was definitely curious as to what would happen and I read the book in practically no time, waiting for myself to become submerged in Marr's faery world...but then I finished the book, and it never happened.
The basic story outline isn't bad, and I think that Marr did an okay job of creating a basic world, it just needs major polishing and better writing technique...it's really just that Marr apparantly doesn't yet posess the magic it takes to pull you in, which really is what every story teller needs. That's the feeling people are truly seeking when they pick up a book, to be able to lose themselves in another world.
Wicked Lovely wasn't capable of doing that, at least not for me.Show Less

Didn't Like It!!!
I didn't even finish the book! I don't know why I don't like it...I just couldnt't finish it...
I got to the part where that guy, the farie king or someone, was talking to his mom I think...then I thought 'I don't want to finish this book' So I stoped reading it...

WICKED LOVELY READ
Aislinn has always been told by her Grandmother Don't stare at invisible fairies, Don't speak to invisible fairies, Don't attract the attention of invisible fairies. Aislinn has always followed the rules that her Grandmother has told her, but now the rules are not working for her. The fairies are following Aislinn, even making themselves visible to Aislinn and now one is talking to her. Aislinn knows that steel is painful to the fairies and that is where her best friend Seth lives in a railroad car. Seth's place is a safe place for Aislinn, but now the faries are following her to Seth's place and waiting outside watching her. Aislinn always see's a fairy with a wolf and she is following her everywhere. And Keenan is a fairy that makes himself visible to Aislinn and tries to talk to her and Aislinn is scared and doesn't want anything to do with him. Keenan is the Summer King who is seeking his Summer Queen and he thinks that Aislinn is the queen. Keenan's mother is the Winter Queen is has limited Keenan's powers and he needs his Summer Queen to regain his full power. The Winter Queen doesn't want Keenan to find his Summer Queen and will do anything to keep him from finding her. When Aislinn is with Seth, she feels that she wants more than friendship with Seth, and she thinks Seth does too. Keenan doesn't give up trying to get Aislinn to talk to him and then go out with him. After Aislinn and Seth decide to try and find out what the fairies want, she decides to go out with Keenan, after which she learns that she is the Summer Queen that he is looking for, but she doesn't want to be.

Wickedly Loved this Book!
Reading Wicked Lovely was great. It was great being able to immerse myself into the world Melissa Marr created. I got to know the character's well and follow the swaying emotions of Aislinn along with the akward love square. This book is juicy with adventure, love, ddeceit, and discoveries. A book that I love and heartily recommend.

Loved it
This book was very good. One of my favorites. I loved the story line, the characters, you name it. I would've perfered she ended up with Keenen but half-way through the book that seemed wrong. So no complaints. Not the best but definatley up there.

Compelling, Brilliant and Everything else
I was searching on the internet for books to read when I came across Wicked Lovely on amazon. I read the summary and simply had to send it to my friend so I forwarded the link. I read the first chapter and fell inlove with it. The next day I was at the mall and dragged my Dad into a bookstore at 9:00 at night. I learnt an important lesson...If your dad really wants to get home he'll buy you any book you want so long as he gets to leave. I started reading the book instantly and had a hard time putting it down. I'd read in the mornings before school and then again when I got home. I finished it quite quickly which I regret for I'm book-less once again. It's compelling and amazingly detailed. I recomend this book to any open minded person that enjoys a good faery story.

Not Great But Not Bad Either
This book for me was okay. I never really read a book that was strictly about faeries. I needed there to be more to the stories layout. I'm not the first to say this but there was just something missing for me.

I'd been waiting to read Wicked Lovely, and it was exactly as I thought it'd be. It's very odd the way the book is set up, however. Since an ending is revealed in the beginning, you assume there's something important that happens after the ending. So the only reason I read the book was to speed things up to the ending and see what happened afterward. I didn't read the story to see what happened, I just read it to get through it. Wicked Lovely was a good book, though. It reminded me of the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer, only a bit darker with more character viewpoints. I recommend this to high-schoolers, and as a warning, there are to 'f-words' in here as well as quite a bit of talk about sex.

Beautiful and intriguing
Compared to Holly Black's 'Tithe' this book was amazing. I was wary at first, expecting it to be like Tithe, or Valiant, but once I read the tale... I very much enjoyed it. The characters are more fleshed out than Holly Blacks, the story has more detail and substance and the way the Fay are portrayed are much more realistic to me. I also find it refreshing that the main character doesn't just fall for the 'Faery Prince' of the tale because he's of the Fay. I would recommend this to anyone, especially OVER Tithe.

Aislinn like her grandmother has the ¿Sight¿ that enables them to see the fairy realm. However, wanting to be accepted by her peers and fearing their cruelty, she pretends that nothing is amiss. She lives by three simple rules. ¿: Don't ever attract their attention¿ ¿Don't speak to invisible faeries¿ and ¿Don't stare at invisible faeries¿. For much of her young life adhering to ignore them at the all costs doctrine has worked very well so that she can shoot pool with her friends without the fairies knowing she knows they are nearby. However, somehow Keenan the Summer King fairy has found out her secret. He demands she answer his interrogation for he believes she is the Winter Queen hehas sought for nine hundred mortal years. His minion and his enemies stalk Aislinn as they threaten her friends and family. She is no longer safe pretending ignorance, but her biggest trepidation is what the Summer King will do to her best friend Seth on the solstice. WICKED LOVELY is a strong teen fantasy that young adults will fully enjoy as Aislinn can no longer hide from her gift. Love Hate Relationship
I was really excited about reading this book. I liked the storyline; however, Aislinn just got on my nerves. I hated the fact that she was a whinny scared individual. I mean whenever she came across a problem that seemed too difficult for her to understand, she ran away from it. I hate that!!! I mean, she's supposed to be the heroine in the story but all I saw was a pathetic girl that didn't deserve to be Summer Queen. In addition, I don't understand why she chose Seth over Keenan. I don't see anything special about him. Seth might have been there when Aislinn needed support, but I think it just added to her weakness. So, the story was great but hated the ending.

Really enjoyed it!!
First, this was my first book by Melissa Marr and I have to confess that I came across her books when I was looking for something similar or at least within the fantasy theme that was Twilight. Of course this has nothing to do with vampires but still has as its main characters other supernatural creatures like faeries.
Although I'm wayyy past what you would call the average age for these sort of books, I love stories that take you past the ordinary and introduce you to creatures that are either part of a culture's mythology or just too fantastic to be real.
As some of the reviews I read said about this book, it's a modern day fairy tale and who doesn't enjoy a fairy tale every now and then??2 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

Not Worth Money.
I'm a big fantasy fan, but this wasnt anything special. If your curious go pick it up at the library, because its not worth money. If your bored out of your mind then I would recommend reading it, but otherwise dont.

one word: Fantastic!!!!!!
the book was wonderful! i dont know why people are complaining about the end, it was absolutaly perfect for the book. the characters were well thought out and played. it starts out with a girl who has 'the sight'. she can see faerys. there is also the faery king who is looking for the summer queen. the one who will return his powers and help him defeat the winter queen. keenan the summer king, is convinced that aislinn, the one with the 'sight', is his summer queen. aislinn wants nothing to do with keenan but he does not give up so easily. keenan turns aislinn into a faery. aislinn is upset because she loves seth, her best friend. seth alsways supports her. aislinn takes the test and becomes the summer queen.'sounds easy but none of keenans girls in the past 900 centuries pasted it'. they end up killing beira, the evil winter queen. donia, keenans love becomes the new winter queen. the book ends happy so if ur into the the hole romeo & juliet tragety this book isnt for u. i know i make it sound really boring but it is a really great book. u should definately read it.

Wicked Lovely
I was unsure about Wicked Lovely when i first started it because I was more into vampires than faeries, but by the end of Wicked Lovely I had found a new fave.The story seemed very realistic and I felt like the characters could be actual people. I felt really bad for Aislinn near the end of the book and that only happens to me when i really like a book.

Fairy Wonderful Teen Book
Exciting story about a teen girl who is very real to life and her encounters with invisable fairies. I would put this in the catagorie of Harry Potter and the Golden Compass. A wonderful story that I shared with my niece. Characters resemble real life and not make believe teens. Excellent descriptions and easy to follow story line although it doesn't reveal too much too soon. Creative story plot and interesting characters, both Fairy and human. Good read for a teen or adult. I plan to read other books by the same author. This would make a great movie! Love it and would recommend it to others.

Interesting story
For those people who want a feeling of enchantment, this book is for you! It has faeries and love. I feel sorry for seth now and later on in fragile eternity. He's always in the corner. Keenan is too pushy, don't like him very much. Good book though.
