For anyone with just a passing knowledge of early Mormonism, or life in 19th century America, this is an eye-opening read. Every chapter adds a new sign of classic cult behavior, and by the end you're screaming at the author to get out before it's too late.

    Recommended - an eye opener!

Considering when this was written it is an amazing insight to polygamy and how it was used by church authorities to control the lives of its members. The author took a great risk to write and publish this.

    rambling chronology but very descriptive

I felt this book went in to so many details it got lost in the weeds. Overall it painted quite a picture of early Mormonism.

Ann Eliza Young was very brave to have written this expose.  This book was well written and I would recommend it.  It was certainly an eye-opener to a totally male oriented world.
