I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The writing was good, I just wanted higher stakes and more of a reason why the characters were so against one another in the beginning and throughout. It seemed like it all could be resolved simply by communicating better - which is basically what happens. There's no good reason for the two characters to not date, and everything works out very sequentially and without any twists and turns. It was too predictable and I was wanting something that wasn't as easy.

Plus, there were more innuendos and sexual content than I typically go for in my reading, and that's a personal preference. Though, I was under the impression that this publishing line was more clean, so I think that's why I was surprised it was out of my comfort zone. It seemed like their love was built more on lust though, rather than an actual connection. Sure, they had a physical attraction to one another-I got that. I didn't need to be reminded every other paragraph that he was looking down her shirt or that she wanted to get him in bed.

I chalk it up to the fact that it just wasn't for me. A lot of readers will really like the steaminess and like the easy nature of their relationship. For me it just kind of read like someone put their fantasy into book form (which a lot of books are, admittedly). I just wanted more at stake and more set backs to show how they really pulled together to be stronger as a couple, and I wanted a cleaner read.
