I'm not sure what it was about Lora Leigh's latest, "Wild Card", but something just didn't hit all my pleasure buttons with it. Maybe it was the hero's stubbornness that lasted just too long for me not to get irritated with it. Or maybe it was his push/pull tactics that drove me nuts...Either way, I just wasn't as thrilled with this book as I usually am with most everything Leigh writes.

Bella lost her soulmate three years ago when her SEAL husband didn't return from his last mission. Since then, she's had horrible nightmares and has only recently returned to 'living'...only to battle to save what's left of their life together, their home and business. So why now, when she's finally trying to move on, does she meet another man who makes her blood sizzle and reminds her in so many ways of her dead love?

Nathan was held prisoner and pumped full of drugs for months on end. When he was finally rescued, he was more animal than man. Even though his dreams of his wife were all that kept him alive, he decides to remain 'dead'. Instead of returning to his 'other' life, he undergoes innumerable surgeries and comes out a new man with a new identity...and he refuses to 'taint' his wife with the dark creature he is now. But when his wife is unknowingly dragged into danger, he can't NOT help her. And once, he's near her, he can't NOT want her. But if he won't reveal his past, how can the two of them have anything?

As I said, this book is very intense. The connection between the hero and heroine is at times a bit mystical, and always red hot. The difference between their 'younger' lives and their current lives provides a harsh glimpse of the reality of some relationships. And it's not until each individual can reveal their true selves, and be accepted by the other, that a relationship can really become deep and solid. I appreciated this extra hint of realism on Leigh's part. But by golly, I spent an awful lot of this book wanting to kick Nate's ass! His actions and motives seem awfully selfish for a full 2/3 of the book and I hated that. Of course, I DID keep reading and I will continue to read Lora Leigh's stories. She manages to touch something in me and bring something to her tales that other author's can't quite touch. So, Alpha jerks or no, I'll keep looking for her titles...

What a waste of 418 pages of paper.

It would have been nice if these two people, who supposedly deeply loved each other, had ever made love in the entire book. It was having sex, although what they called it was much more crude. The sex scenes were graphic, raunchy, disgusting & in parts downright sicken...
It would have been nice if these two people, who supposedly deeply loved each other, had ever made love in the entire book. It was having sex, although what they called it was much more crude. The sex scenes were graphic, raunchy, disgusting & in parts downright sickening such as the scene that comes near the end of the book. The language in these "sessions" was filthy. I'm not a prude by any imagination but most of this book left me sick to my stomach. And the sex scenes took up most of the book. The plot of the book was....I'm not sure there was one. Noah wasn't a particularly likeable person & Sabella was sort of wimpy. She let Noah basically take over her business, her home & her life. When I first started this book I thought I'd found a new author & had planned to buy the previous books. Not a chance now!

    Awesome

The storyline made me buy it--A MAN who can be given a drug to make him crazy for sex but yet he overcomes it and remains FAITHFUL to his wife!!! I LOVED it. I had issues with him deciding to hide his identity and decieve his wife but it all worked out in the end. Of course being Lora Leight the sex is often and very HOT.

    Great Story!

I loved this book! I am a big fan of Lora Leigh's Breed series but I think this book was even better than those if that's even possible. If you're looking for a great story and lots of romance then this book is definitely for you! I loved it from beginning to end!

Loved this book! I'm a sucker for a great love story and these characters had an intense story. While I loved 50 Shades and Crossfire, I really enjoyed the totally different story line of the bada__ hero type and the ordinary girl. By the end of the book I was crying so hard I couldn't see the words on the pages. I have read this entire Elite Ops series now and am anxiously awaiting the release of Renegade and Live Wire to wrap it up.

    Highly Recommended

Loved this Book! I would definitely recommend it. The romance between Nathan and Sabella was wonderful and made me reread it! I ordered the next book in the series Maverick as well as the other books Dangerous Games, Hidden Agendas and Killer Secrets from the Tempting Seals Series so I can get some background on the characters. Again, well worth the read

    O M G YES!!!  FINALLY!!!
This book had it ALL!  There was intense passion, heartache, danger, intrigue....an epic love story like no other.  I was enthralled with this story and could not put the book down.  My heart ached for Nathan and then it split in two for his wife.   Their struggle was heart wrenching but  you were pulling for them throughout the entire book.  Once "Noah" is introduced, Holy Crap, he oozes sex, danger, and sheer power.  You just fall in lust/love with him.  You can not go wrong with this read.  There are some witty and funny commentary to the book as well as the danger lurking from Nathan's past.  Throw all of that together along with the very VERY hot sex , and I mean HOT, and you have a book that will captivate you from beginning to end.  I was very sad to reach the ending.  This was my next favorite book to the 50 shades series (granted, there isn't any bondage in this particular book---just great sex with an incredibly strong willed Navy SEAL--wink wink).
