    Hello Jerry,
I live on Fife Lake in the southeast corner of Grand Traverse County.
I have always enjoyed your writing and feel that I can relate to so many ideas and thoughts you put forth on the written page. I just started reading your new book, Windward Shore. What a great winter day it is to be reading it! I have a comfortable chair in the living room, close to the fireplace and facing the frozen, snow covered lake. It is very easy to get into and relate to your message. I liked pages 77-88 very much. I too start my day filling the bird feeders. I buy black oil sunflower seeds by the 50 lb. bag
and feed the birds year round. I have hand fed the chickadees. We have voles aplenty and there is a pileated at the suet cake.
Hot pea soup with bacon is on the back burner and it's martini time. (gin of course)I also enjoyed The Living Great Lakes which you signed for me. Thanks for a nice afternoon of reading.

As a native Michigander I’ve spend many wonderful days, in every season, walking the shores of the lakes. I have never found such thorough observations and exquisite descriptions of the places that I love as are found in this book. If you’ve ever walked the shore you know that you are never sure what or who you will find around the next curve in the waterline, and when you turn back toward home the wind and the waves have erased your footsteps and revealed yet another set of wonders. The Windward Shore mimics such a walk with teachings, humor, surprises, and blessings at every turn of the page. Thanks Jerry!

Jerry Dennis is in to it, and brings the fortunate reader along for the walk. Stories, observations, and lessons are seamlessly woven to illustrate how complexities mesh with simplicities in and around us. At the end of many passages I would loudly exclaim: "YES", as if cheering a great play at a sporting event.
The Windward Shore is so much more than a reverent glimpse of our Great Lakes region and season.

Jerry wields language poetically while deeply unearthing aspects of his subject matter you never knew existed. This is a book you'll want on your coffee table as it's as suited for a 5 minute infusion, as it is for an hour long lie down. Grab a few copies; you'll want to hand them to your friends. - Brad Purcell

I just finished The Winward Shore and enjoyed every moment I could to steal away and read it. You just know you have something special when the moment has to be perfect in order to even crack the book. It has become a personal favorite and bumped other treasured reads a little further down the list. Jerry's writing beautifully blends elegant prose with an every man's voice, making it a must read for anyone who marvels at the first snowflake or first blizzard warning. Thanks to Jerry for reminding us how captivating Michigan is in all seasons!

This is a truly spectacular book. Mr. Dennis' captivating writing style transported me to those places, those moments. His knowledge about the science, history and culture of this region is enveloped by the sights, sounds and smells of those experiences. Why do people choose to live in the Great Lakes? He amply answers the question in a million shades and textures.
