    Winter Queen

The Winter Queen is such a wonderful story of the court life in the Elizabethan times. The characters Rosemond and Anton are so well developed that you really love them.

Lady Rosemond was sent to be a lady in waiting in Queen Elizabeth's court. Her parents have sent Rosemond to get over Richard whom she thought that she loved.

In meeting Anton, Rosemond learned that her feeling for Richard was more of a girl infatuation than the love she feels for Anton. Both Rosemond and Anton know that falling in love and getting married without the consent of Queen Elizabeth is forbidden and has dire consequences. Anton tried to push Rosemond away but realized that in doing so, his life would means nothing without her.

It is also good to know that Amanda McCabe has researched the Elizabethan era to make you feel the politics and the danger that is being played in the Elizabethan court. This is also the time of rivalry between Mary of Scot and Queen Elizabeth of who is the true Queen of England. She also give you a glimpse of how tempermental that Queen Elizabeth is, if you do not know Queen Elizabeth's personality.
